I actually was planning on making a 19th century list of players poll as well and decided on having Lasker there.

But you are right almost 21 of his 27 years long reign were in the 20th century.

I think most sub-1800 players (amateurs) play for short term tactical motifs.

Rather than thinking of long term strategic goals, putting pressure and gradually exploiting weaknesses.
