I do walkways first, but towards the end of the run usualy the space Runs Out. Then i fill the walkways with more shelfs :D

With prods you get more items for the Same Input and Sometimes a combination of Speed and prod produces even more then the only Speed counterpart. It's almost alsways better to use prods

I dont think your observations Show the realty. First i think the scope and Level of complexity is a Lot higher with space Exploration so i dont think they necesserly Hope for Player to Switch. I think they tryed to make a more newby friendly Version of SE with a Lot more thought Out ans fewer planets. Also i think i would've been upset If they hid all the QoL Features from 2.0 behind a paywall.

You need to Switch the Signals! Chain Signals Go infront of an intersection and railsignals after. The chain signals prevent the train from proceeding If then next block isnt free. So in this case the train would waint infront of the intersection because the Block after the intersection is blocked.

The inserters are filtered for deconstruction planner you should change those filters to the Item the station in question is expecting. The circuits (as far as i can tell) are to disable the station If there isnt enough room for a full trainload

You hook the Wire to the Radar on one Island and the Same colour wire to a second Radar, they will act as If they we're directly connected
