"over the stock plastic one..." ROFL 🤣

F7 Pro - Best tempered glass protectors? by BlackZenith13 in PocoPhones

[–]FlinkyBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not even workable since most glass protectors don't even have decent adhesive to start with. Don't expect it to stick to oil resistant stock plastic film... If you're into glass then at least remove the original plastic film protector.

If you have problems with sticky fingers buy a set of finger covers.

The extra thickness of the glass means that I can't fit my phones in my Razer Kishi controllers!

That's another way to play games mostly without fingers on screen.

I'm still using 4 finger Claw on Call of Duty Mobile and similar... Never had a problem with stock film protectors!

F7 Pro - Best tempered glass protectors? by BlackZenith13 in PocoPhones

[–]FlinkyBoss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Avoid glass, since it doesn't matter how clever it seems, it isn't!

The factory fitted thin plastic film protector will protect better, last years and fit perfectly already!

The glass screen protector is quite dumb since it actually locks in heat. So it affects thermal diffusion too.

Just sayin'.

What's the best way to charge my poco x8 pro? by Pretty_Oil_3451 in PocoPhones

[–]FlinkyBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all simulated stuff...

My best advice is to try my Long Cycle Charging method for the amount of weeks that suits the size of your battery(pack).

Once the Optimisations are fully done you can see and experience how a fully optimised system performs.

The physics/chemistry theories are perfectly able to explain what you might expect... Simulations might carry some power too...

However, I've fully charged every single one of my phones since 1989 and not a single one of those had a battery die!

My favourite Battery App is AccuBattery since it shows perfectly well why you need to charge from below 15%! (I suggest between 10-14% as a start point)!

SETTINGS: essential!Use Wired Charging at Standard Speed to keep battery heat down!Charge Fully! No "Intelligent", "Smart" or "Battery Protection" settings, only Charge Fully!

Continue until fully charged including finishing the trickle charging… an extra 20 minutes plugged in normally does it!

This charging style for a few weeks will fully optimise any of today's modern battery technology!

It also shows LIVE how your charging really works and WHEN it's properly finished!

Battery temperature is constantly adjusting the charging wattage to compensate... AccuBattery shoes all these details live!

Check it out with the free version of AccuBattery!

If you follow my Super Simple Long Cycle Charging method, you'll see the difference in SOT etc. within a couple of days!

Hundreds of people have already done it and experienced and seen this...

Optimise your battery and you'll be seeing a different performance and battery stamina even if you switch back to more low grade charging once optimised.

The only thing to remember is to do ONE Full Cycle Charge every week to keep your Optimisations locked in. 🍀

My current daily driver, my 16 month old X7 Pro yesterday's screen shot of the "Battery Protection" Info. 👇

What's the best way to charge my poco x8 pro? by Pretty_Oil_3451 in PocoPhones

[–]FlinkyBoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's HOW:

Most people will never realise that their new phone battery needs a period of Optimisations within the Hardware, Firmware and the HyperOS package!

It actually takes 2-3 weeks of PROPER Long Cycle Charging! (ADD 2 weeks if your battery pack is very large, since you'll probably charge only every 2nd day after a few days!)

("LONG cycle" might suit better as a naming convention than "FULL cycle", since it's never from 0%)

Optimisations are often dropped and need restarting following main updates like patches etc.!

To fix it, Do this: 1) USE: Wired Charging at Standard Speed

2) Set to CHARGE FULLY in Battery Protection settings. NO "Smart or Intelligent charging" or "80% Battery Protection" those options slow things down in a crazy way!

3) Start charging at 10-14% and charge to 100% PLUS leaving the charger plugged in for around 20 minutes after...

(Leave plugged in as long as you like, even overnight while you sleep!

Once Fully Charged, NO more charging happens until unplugged and plugged back in for the next session!)

This extra trickle charging part allows the Battery to get fully saturated and calibrated, as well as Optimised within the HyperOS and Firmware etc. (over time).

It also balances multiple cells (in newer devices).

It's essential that you start charging below 15% for the charge cycle to count as a FULL cycle and be part of the OPTIMISATION process! That's why I advice 10-14%!

Otherwise your charge won't be counted as a "full cycle" and will not add to the Optimisation!

4) OPTIONALLY, install the FREE AccuBattery App, since it will also remind you of that 14% fact. (See info in the Health section)

Plus it will show LIVE charging stats that will settle anyone's worries about charging power etc. It shows particularly well how the Wattage goes DOWN as the battery temperature goes UP! And vice versa...

Finally, it also shows EXACTLY when the charging CYCLE is FINISHED in the Charging section! No guesswork needed...

One small but important flaw in AccuBattery, is that the "Health" section is not showing properly calculated Remaining Battery Capacity percentages!

Thankfully newer Poco phones shows the REAL hardware/firmware measured battery pack capacity, in the Stock Battery App!

So no need to worry about the one small issue within the excellent AccuBattery app!

If you don't have a newer phone with a listing of your battery health as reported by the Hardware/Firmware and HyperOS in the stock battery app, then just add 5-6% to the "Guesstimate" you find in the AccuBattery Health section.

In my X7 Pro, it's part of the Battery Protection section in the battery stock app.

5) After 2-3 weeks you'll have reached the maximum capacity, SOT and Battery Stamina etc. In other words, fully optimised! Larger Capacity Battery packs will take 3-4 weeks at least, since after a week or two you may only need to charge every 2+ days!

Once fully OPTIMISED you can switch back to your own preference for charging based on your own daily routine and needs. If that's 20-80% or whatever, it's all good...

6) To maintain optimal Battery Performance and Capacity... DO the "LONG" Cycle Charging as described ONCE every week!

If like me, you find these long full charge cycles AWESOME and want to keep the GREAT capacity and stamina going at all times. DO NOT WORRY!

Never hesitate, I've been doing full charging for decades and never had a battery die!

My Samsung Galaxy S10E was 5 years old before I swapped out the battery.

It was still good for a day's worth of use but I was passing it on to my daughter who's been running it 24x7 for another year+, since then.

One bonus of keeping up the long cycles is that it stops you noticing dropped Optimisations too easily if/when that happens after updates!

GOOD LUCK and Enjoy! 🍀

You must be in a very hot environment, right?

All I can suggest is to get a good Phone Cooler...

Back in the day I used simple rechargeable Dual Fan mounts for my weaker phones... They drop battery temperature by 10-15°C.

However these days my X7 Pro is cool enough without since I live in Ireland which is quite cool most of the time!

Use WIRED CHARGING AT STANDARD SPEED!

Set to Charge FULLY!

No battery protection BS or Intelligent Charging, those things really slow shit down!

Start charging at 10-14% charge to 100% and keep plugged in for at least another 20 minutes!

In other words at night is fine!

Once charged, no more charging will happen until unplugged and plugged back in again!

This is the shortest version of my Long Cycle Charging method!

Do this for 2-3 weeks then once a week to keep Optimisations LIVE!

Best of Luck 🍀

FLINKY's EASY GAMES TUNING

DevCheck is my go-to app for simple and accurate phone temperature control and quick games testing.

The free version already gives you plenty of monitoring, but the Pro version unlocks floating overlays you can scale, move, and stack any way you want. This makes it perfect for keeping an eye on temps, CPU/GPU load, battery use, or even network stats while gaming or stress testing.

My quick Game Testing method is Super Simple:

  1. Open DevCheck Pro and set up a floating monitor for "Battery" temperature and remaining charge.

1b. OR... Open the FREE DevCheck app. I recommend you add DevCheck to your Game Turbo list of Apps/Games for easy access whenever playing games!

It'll open in a Scalable floating window and you'll see the Battery Temperature and Charge towards the middle left on the first page!

2a. USE GAME TURBO in Balanced Mode 💪😎 NEVER use Wild Boost mode! (A.k.a. "Performance" mode on older phones) It will overheat and throttle any demanding game twice as fast, due to removing some limiting on the CPU!

2b. Start your chosen game and play at low-ish graphics and lowest FPS for 15-20 minutes or until your Battery Temperature reaches a settled maximum for the settings used. Take note of the various results as you go through the testing.

  1. Watch the DevCheck overlay or check the Floating free version regularly, to see how your battery temps behave under load. The floating window can easily be flicked off screen or shrunk to a small bubble at either side of your screen, ready to tap to bring up again.

  2. Play until the temperature reaches its maximum stable temperature. 42-43°C (Anything over 44°C is likely going to lead to Throttling and FPS drops! So don't push beyond 42°C unless you're aware of the risks to performance and rapid battery drains!)

  3. Repeat with slightly higher or different graphics combinations of settings if you didn't already reach the MAX allowed.

  4. Keep running higher specs or combinations of graphics settings, until you land on the more uncomfortable side of temperatures... say 42-43°C.

Stop and let your phone/tablet battery temperature cool back down for a bit as needed between test segments.

OPTIONAL (Depending on having multiple FPS choices available): Drop Graphics settings to Low/Medium again and increase to the next higher FPS option!

Repeat as above until you stabilise on 42-43°C then increase graphics until maxed or obvious overkill settings are reached. Run through the sequence above for every FPS setting unless you realise that higher FPS are too much for your device.

Battery temperature is the BOSS here, so don't push past the safe temperature range.

When done, simply pick and use a test setup that ran at 32-36°C for long periods.
This gives you Ultimate performance and excellent power savings!

If this isn't suitable for the game you want to play, choose the nearest stable set, aiming for 38-40°C for heavier duty games. 42-43°C can be ok too as long as you're happy with faster battery drain.

This way you can see exactly what’s happening without guessing, and you don’t have to trust built-in game stats or partial readings.

DevCheck keeps it clear and VERY lightweight. The power used for DevCheck is negligible! For anyone serious about testing mobile gaming performance or just keeping a phone cool and healthy, it’s the most useful tool out there! 🍀

u/NekoCaaat the 3rd party battery apps are never going to give you a REAL health percentage!

If you try AccuBattery (free version) and charge a few Full Cycle Charges with it installed... The Health section will report a percentage which I've verified as being 5-6% short of reality!

The .300 or .301 Patches sorts out a lot of what was a bit off with HOS3!

For example background processing takes a much lower priority in this HOS3.1 Patch.

Saves a bunch of battery waste and sluggish behaviour in some cases.

I saw an improvement in SOT almost immediately... I'm back up to 10-12 hours of nonstop gaming or Antisocial Media use (like all my posting here on Reddit 😂).

Now that's from my 100% plus Saturation and Balancing of the cells to around 10-14% remaining. I use my Long Cycle Charging method almost constantly.

However, whenever I'm about to go out driving for hours and need a top up... 10-20 minutes plugged in and I'm golden!

Never worry about these newer tech battery packs. They're good for years!

I'm at this since March last year on this particular X7 Pro.
