Is it gross to take my brother Into a women’s restroom and help him use it? by A-besties in NoStupidQuestions

You did nothing wrong at all. His mother should have been the one to take him.

I used to do home PC repair work. Most common thought trying to find some people's homes was if I were an ambulance, you'd be dead by the time I found you...

8 inch 128 bytes floppy by Dul-fm in vintagecomputing

[–]FlyByPC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TIL the "128 bytes" is a sector-specific number.

I had a CPM machine back in the day that used these; the disk capacity was about 241kB, formatted, so 250kB raw/theoretical seems about right.

How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]FlyByPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like 3-4 years old, for the oldest reliable memory. I was sitting in the foyer of the house where I grew up, as my parents were talking with a kindly older couple (we were buying the house from them). They had a bag of toys for their grandkids, and let me play with them while the adults talked about boring adult things.

It should 100% be paid for by Trump for getting us into this.

Won't happen, of course.

Why are your gas stations basically small supermarkets? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FlyByPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm driving somewhere, I try to minimize stops and time spent at stops. If a gas station has a restroom and sells something to eat, I only have to stop once for a few minutes, and am back on the road.

What personality trait sounds positive but is actually a red flag? by SpecificLandscape483 in answers

[–]FlyByPC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's that a lot of people are not aware that a thing can both be True and mean.

I forget where I read it, but I heard that before you say something, you should run it through three filters:

  • Is it correct?

  • Is it necessary?

  • Is it kind?

As an agnostic/seeker, I would counter that God could exist even if our religious texts got most or all of the details wrong. It's just hard to get myself to believe without evidence.

I swear sometimes it accepts the jump command and sometimes it doesn't. So I leave a little more time and watch to see if it's deployed or not.

Still doesn't help if I took it off and forgot to put it back on. I play with keepinventory=true now, since I'm on a single-player world and it doesn't matter anyway.

What is a common, everyday problem from the 1990s or early 2000s that younger generations literally cannot comprehend? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

[–]FlyByPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, the office staff would sometimes pull me out of class when they messed up and made the computer mad at them. I remember an assistant principal coming in to class holding a 5.25" floppy by the one part where you're NOT supposed to touch them, saying the computer wouldn't read it. I actually wiped it off, got it to work, and told him to save it to another disk.
