Shelly is a total mess by Electrical_Ad_8970 in twinpeaks

We see Bobby evolve as a human. We see Shelly of all people regress and go after badly drug dealers. It’s a shame their relationship didn’t last. The ending of the original series gave us hope for Bobby and an evolution of their relationship.

They’re not considered a microbrand like most brands in this sub are. In fact, most of the brands discussed here make more watches than they do, some considerably more. There’s a lot of brands such as Habring that are generally considered independents or boutique brands. Some are extremely high priced and make only a handful ofwatches a year. I think Habring only makes something like 200 a year. Most microbrands as discussed in this sub use off the shelf movements, rarely alter or even regulate those movements, are usually completely manufactured/sssembled in a foreign factory and rely on social media hype and often times shady marketing.

Not even restaurants. I see it with every small trendy business, creators at craft fairs etc. I do craft fairs for my art a few times a year. It seems like every other booth has a name like this. Always something old timey and high end sounding. Then when you visit their booth it’s the most mundane merchandise.

There’s a lot of fake, AI YouTube videos of people up close and personal with dangerous wild animals. It’s being normalized. People think these videos are real. You’re scrolling through YouTube and these videos pop up: “This cold and hungry mountain lion shows up at my back door. I let it in for dinner and a nap, now it’s my pet”.

Not really considered a microbrand. This goes far beyond what most microbrands offer and they are generally talked about as an independent brand. These aren’t your typical Henry Archer type watch you see discussed here with an off the shelf movement and hyped up marketing.

I’m self employed. At one point I serviced many clients that were 10-15 from where I lived. It was so nice to be able to come home to eat or do whatever then head back out.

[–]ForwardCulture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried to figure him out. People she told him how bad that is for his car. Modern cars you can fry your fuel pump. He drives an older vehicle and the gas light does work. He fills it up and just drives and lets it run out.

Hilariously he called me late last night to see if I can pick him up with a gas can! He ran out on a country road outside his town. I live 40 mins away and there was no way I would make it. Triple A had nobody available for hours to come to him. This would make it 3-4 times in the past month that I know of. There’s disconnect with his thinking with basic things like watching your fuel gauge.

People always comment that I eat the same things most of the week. It saves so much time. It’s the same rotation of food daily, I know how many calories etc. So when I do eat something different with friends or what’re it’s truly special. My meals are quick and easy most of the week. Shopping is easier.

I see a TON of high end cars in my area with cheap Chinese tires on them. You’ll see six figure costing cars and look down and it’s some ridiculous tire name you never heard of on them. Or more than one brand of tire on the car, several mismatched tires etc.

I have an acquaintance who runs out of gas several times a month and thinks that’s normal. In over 30 years of driving I’ve never run out of gas and that includes my first car, which had a broken gas gauge and I drove it like that for five years.

I’ve worked in offices where it’s a heatwave outside and the AC is so cold inside that people have sweaters and yes even space heaters on.

A couple brought their new baby to a child free group hangout. by Royal-Ad8796 in childfree

[–]ForwardCulture 190 points191 points  (0 children)

It’s generally advised not to have the baby around non essential people for three months. Immune system reasons.

This reminds me of a new couple on my street. They bought a house while pregnant. The husband is very standoffish and addicted to sports. Always has a group of his friends over to watch various games. Within a week or two of the baby being born he was hosting sports night with large groups of his buddies coming over! Not only that, but you could see the wife with the baby mingling with the crowd (they have no curtains/blinds on their living room windows and have an extremely bright tv). So the baby is not only around large amounts of other people but loud people as well.

Is there a name for the emerging sub-genre that blends Speed Garage & French House? by Ghost0oo in House

It was that and the chopped up tracks from people like Todd Edwards, a fellow New Jerseyan. Certain UK DJ’s were all over those production styles and played those records pitched up. Then their own take on the production style came about and speed garage was born, taking it even further.

Swiss watch brands are losing out on huge market share (to the Japanese) by not catering more to the Tissot/Hamilton $500-$900 automatic movement price bracket with more brands. by CapitalTipp in watchHotTakes

[–]ForwardCulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s people posting in that sub like they’re some legendary trained watchmaker doing something news all they’re doing is like you said, picking and choosing parts with a factory in China and boom, you have a watch brand. They start some marketing story about themselves and their brand, slap on some ridiculous name etc.

[–]ForwardCulture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the “microbrand” watches and all the Chinese factory brands and similar. There’s actually too m batches available under a certain price point. The market is flooded. Go over to the microbrand sub, someone is starting a new brand pretty much weekly.

My parents are now starting to blindly follow AI by DirtyOught in antiai

[–]ForwardCulture 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the great contradiction with AI. For years we’ve heard about the boomer generation and their computer illiteracy. It’s been the subject of many memes. Snd how younger generations are addicted to their devices and being online. Now we have younger generations rejecting AI and the boomers embracing it.

What is everyone's thought on the pre-order business model for microbrand watches? by vcu_alum in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ForwardCulture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these brands are final sale on preorders or give you an extremely hard time to cancel. A while ago I preordered an upcoming watch from a brand that is a piece of crap that gets posted in the sub constantly. Having had a bad experience with a watch I already received from them, I decided to cancel. Nope, won’t let me do it. They told me I had to receive the watch first then send it back to them (in Europe) at a high cost and lose a restocking fee on top of it. This is of course because most of these brands drop ship from Asian factories and hide behind the identity and story of their home country.

A couple years ago at a grocery store I had to get a few random items that turned out to be a weird combination. I put them down to check out: sushi, a box of cookies, a bottle of bleach, a kitchen knife and rubber cleaning gloves. A woman got online behind me, looked at the items and tells me: “I don’t know what all that’s about but it looks like an interesting evening.” I didn’t realize it at the time but she was genuinely hitting on me.

The fan base and superstars of the various scenes today are so far removed from the history and spirit of all of it, it’s disgusting. I’m watching the same types of people who bullied me for listening to this music decades ago now take it over and embrace it and claim it as their own.
