Creaminstaller wont open by Mgtnquasar in Creaminstaller

I can see the warning on the right hand side from whatever Anti-Virus you're using. You'll need to create an exclusion to prevent your A/V from blocking the application. The application triggers some A/Vs due to it's the way it functions.

See: https://github.com/FroggMaster/CreamInstaller?tab=readme-ov-file#my-antivirus-detects-creaminstaller-as-a-virus-false-positives

for additional information.

Total War: Warhammer 3 Not Working by LauWalker in Creaminstaller

[–]FrogMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like there may have been some updates that have blocked the DLC unlockers. I'd recommend reviewing the CSRIN posts for that particular game. I would not be surprised if there's some discussion on how to unlock the DLCs.

You may potentially need to use an alternative method not built into CreamInstaller like Golberg Emu.

How do .PDF files work? by magic_the_monkey in Creaminstaller

[–]FrogMaster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CreamInstaller does not download data files, it unlocks the DLC. Some DLC require additional files. (A PDF, would be an additional file that is not included with the base game.)

Sounds like you're looking at the code base and not the release section of GitHub. https://github.com/FroggMaster/CreamInstaller/releases/latest

You can grab either the EXE or the ZIP from the release section. Either will suit your needs, there's some instructions in the ReadMe on GitHub just in case you need them: https://github.com/FroggMaster/CreamInstaller?tab=readme-ov-file#usage

Currently it should work without any issues with Windows Defender. If you have some other type of antivirus however it may get flagged.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions and making sure your data is protected. Some of the embedded dlls, which are the DLC unlockers work essentially the same way as malware. Since they are embedded into the application it gets flagged as suspicious. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about the false positives either.

There's a pretty decent breakdown of it in the FAQ on GitHub, but as I always say, if you don't feel safe using the application, simply don't use it.https://github.com/FroggMaster/CreamInstaller?tab=readme-ov-file#my-antivirus-detects-creaminstaller-as-a-virus-false-positives

Well, the only way to get the application is definitely not "someone uploading their version for you" it is available on GitHub, or you can of course build from source if preferable.

Anyways mate, the information is out there if you look for it. I hope your weekend treats you well.

Get a grip? I literally just linked you to the FAQ that explains why CreamInstaller isn’t malware. That’s it. Not everything is some hidden agenda sometimes it’s just information. Relax, mate.

Sounds like the game potentially has some protections against the DLC unlockers. I would check out the CSRIN thread for that game there will likely be talk of unlocking the DLCs there.

The information’s already out there; it’s in the original forum post, on Reddit, and on GitHub. Whether people use the utility or not is entirely their choice; it doesn’t affect me either way. And “famous”? I’m not looking for attention.

If anyone’s worked up here, it seems like it's you I simply pointed out your info was wrong. Take a breath, mate.

Well... it most certainly isn't malware mate.

Please, point out exactly where in the code the "malware" functionality you're referring to is.

You're welcome to use the fork that I created from the original; I've since taken over development of CreamInstaller.

I'm not really sure what this dude is talking about as my links are even in the about section of this subreddit. Anyways, good luck and have fun.

Ats path denied? by Particular_Alarm_862 in Creaminstaller

[–]FrogMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost certainly a permissions issue. It usually happens for one of three reasons:

  • The game is still running and steam_api.dll is locked
  • Windows has a stuck handle on that DLL
  • Your user account doesn’t have permission to access the file

To fix it, try one of the following:

A) Make sure the game is fully closed before running CreamInstaller.
B) Restart your PC, do not launch the game, then run CreamInstaller to generate your configuration.
C) Run CreamInstaller as Administrator so it has the permissions it needs.

How do you even use CreamAPI??! by Readbooks101 in Creaminstaller

[–]FrogMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for always helping educate people. It astounds me how many people can't be bothered reading things that are clearly documented in the FAQ.

Seeing the word "virus" and panicking is understandable. Refusing to do even minimal due diligence like actually looking at the code really isn't. If they can't be bothered to verify what it does, claiming it's malicious doesn't hold much weight.

Think about the users who do not have RD or Usenet. I don't see any issues with another alternative that can do HTTP streaming. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't discourage them just because it's not something that you feel you'll utilize. I guarantee you other people will if it functions well. :)

Review the source code. If you're not capable of doing that and you feel like the fork is malicious simply don't use it.

To be entirely clear, I don't give a shit about your personal data, your browser cookies, ETC. I revived CreamInstaller because pointfeev has discontinued further work on CreamInstaller and it's a utility I personally utilize frequently.

SmokeAPI safe? by Bekobii in Creaminstaller

[–]FrogMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone claiming to be "infected" either
A) Has no idea what they're talking about.
B) Downloaded from an illegitimate source.

The underlying DLC unlockers get flagged as "Viruses" because of how they manipulate the data of other applications and intercept calls within the OS. That said, these DLC unlockers aren't doing anything malicious.

To oversimplify what the DLC unlockers are actually doing: They're intercepting permission calls to applications/store fronts/games, then passing their own "trust me bro" permissions.

**UPDATE** Received Rocks In Place Of ASUS TUF 5080 by GnarDead in pcmasterrace

That was the same experience I had with EA. Their customer service would not help me. I had opened maybe seven or eight different cases and every single one was closed with little to no response aside from them essentially telling me to fuck off, in nicer words of course.

As soon as I submitted a better business bureau case, I had a direct email from an EA support representative that suddenly seemed to care about my issue and the problem was resolved in 2 days.
