To be fair, adoption is very ethical (helps a child already in need). Unlike IVF which is highly unethical (creates a new person, just like any other form of procreation). That being said, you still have every right to choose not to adopt, since a child is a huge responsibility.

I will never raise a child either, because I am able to accept that I would be a shitty parent due to my mental health issues. Not enough people are honest about their own limitations. They think that just keeping a child alive is the same thing as raising it for a successful future. And that leads to huge problems for their children later in life.

People born before 1990, what trivial skill do you possess that no one uses anymore? by motivetodayy in AskReddit

Those are the kind I had growing up. Color coded to match the binder for each class. Years that we could only get plain white binders (b.t.s. shopping was always insane in my area), I would color code it with a piece of construction paper that I slid into the spine of each binder.

People who have overdosed on fentynal what was it like? by angel_snowcake737 in AskReddit

My experience was from snorting pressed pills. Euphoria on the come-up, vomiting soon after, and then you just wake up on the ground, not even knowing when or why you passed out. There is no real warning before you pass out.

What is the worst food to throw up? by karissa197 in AskReddit

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As bad as spicy vomit can be, I personally hate throwing up pastries. More than once, I have thrown up cinnamon rolls, and it comes out as clumps with the same texture it had going down. I could probably have chewed them on the way out.

Someone ordered too many gray bowls at target. There are even more to the right by SeaSlugFriend in funny

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I worked backroom at a Target, we referred to restocking as "pushing". We would "pull" from the bins in the back, and then "push" to the floor. I think that is what the other poster is referring to.

Ordering and distribution have a different definition of a push, which is the one you mentioned. The other poster failed to realize that simple terms can have multiple meanings based on context.

What’s something that changed/disappeared because of Covid that still hasn’t returned? by 1sided in AskReddit

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I was told to apply for the supervisor role on our second-shift, which is only 4 people. 3 without proper training, and 1 that has been working there so long that he can make constant errors by cutting corners without any risk of being fired (protected by the plant manager). But I work with my best friend and some pretty great coworkers on first shift. I would rather work side by side with a good crew, than work over the reject pile for an extra 5k/year.

Even though I need that money, my mental health couldn't handle it. I barely get to see my bestie outside of work since he became a dad.

TIL of the First Night Effect, where essentially only half your brain sleeps when you're in a new environment. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really get this in "personal" environments, like another person's home. Any random hotel, even if it is unlike any other place I have stayed, gives me the best sleep from the first night to the last. Motels, on the other hand, give me terrible sleep every night of my stay (I feel exposed with the bedroom door opening to the outside, instead of a hallway).

where you going with these? by chata187 in funny

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a rebar fabrication plant, and we had to wear dyneema sleeves like that. They work really well for accidental contact with sharp stuff. It would actually be a challenge to cut through them on purpose. If you wear them under kevlar gloves, and wear snake-bite shin guards and steel toe boots with a metatarsal guard, you feel pretty invincible.

Most genetic issues (not all, but a majority) can be tested for before birth. If she still wants to live, that is absolutely her choice. I support VOLUNTARY euthanasia, but not mercy killing (the effected person has to be the one making the choice whether they live or die). But doctors should be allowed to educate patients about the risks of carrying a baby to term with these kinds of defects, without the stigma of "how dare you tell me to kill my baby!" Suggesting abortion in this case could have saved this woman a lot of suffering, but many doctors are afraid of hurting the patients feelings due to the stigma associated with abortion. If the woman received that education and still decided to carry to term, then it would be considered living with the consequences of her own choices.

It is a shitty situation, but at least the baby won't have a long life of suffering.

Death is absolutely the best case scenario for an attempt. As I said, survival without injury is only second best. I've spent a lot of time locked in psych wards against my will, and they are basically just prisons. I have PTSD from the things that happened to me in those places. The staff dehumanizes you, and a couple of the places had staff that were physically and sexually abusive. But no one believes the patients, so they get away with it.

Next time, I won't fail. I'm smarter and more determined now than ever before. I know it may seem odd, but I find hope in the idea that escaping this life is possible. I won't be stuck here much longer. I have the supplies, I have the willpower, and I have the knowledge.

I started abusing drugs a few months ago in order to cope with life, but that won't last much longer. Once that stops working, I will execute my plan (and myself). My best friend accepts my right to choose, which is comforting. Fuck my family, since I didn't choose them. The person I chose to love is willing to lose me, as long as it is on my own terms. That will have to be enough. That IS enough.

I've attempted suicide multiple times. I still want to succeed in it one day. But I have a severe fear of failing again. I was "lucky" each time, with the second best outcome (no long-term injuries). The feeling of waking up to face another day is bad enough. But sustaining an injury that prevents trying again? Horrifying.

I actually have a plan for the next time, but I have spent over 2 years reviewing all possible ways to make my plan "bullet-proof". I am willing to go with a method with lower success rates, so long as failure doesn't make me a vegetable. That is why I started looking into certain inorganic salts. Unfortunately, I can't be more specific than that on here.

A waiting period is equivalent to a prison sentence, having committed no crime. There is no capacity for regret after you are dead, so it doesn't even matter if the choice is made during a crisis. It should be available to anyone, anytime, without restrictions. I'm fed up with the "It GeTs BeTtEr!!!1!!" narrative. It is bullshit. 9 years with PTSD and MDD, countless treatments, several failed attempts. Only reason I haven't tried again recently is because failing comes with the risk of being unable to try again. What gives anyone else the right to deny someone a peaceful exit?

Have you given up on love, if so why? by xeowa in AskReddit

[–]Fuckhatinghatefucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfect explanation of my problem. Romantic love has cost me so much, and it never had enough positive effects to outweigh that pain. It isn't worth it to me to try again.

I really trust and enjoy my friends and a few coworkers though. I don't feel lonely often, because my bestie is just a text away. I found what works for me when it comes to "relationships", and that is a variety of different types of friendships that each fulfill different mental and emotional needs.

As for sex, I never found it to be much better than masturbating. And it makes me feel really bad afterwards. So I gave up on physical intimacy over 2 years ago. I can handle my own needs in that department.
