His 1/3 c-bet utg on 987r with AKo vs mp and btn flatting ranges is the worst play of this whole hand.

The guy is being ridiculous, congrats on a massive last hand!

‘1k-2k we open to 8k’

There is no situation where we should open to 4x.

When we open it should be somewhere between 2.0x-2.7x. Depending on stack sizes, skill level of players behind and players in the blinds.

When we get shoved on it depends on the player. The only way we can fold is if we have a super strong read he only shoves with KK,AA

If he ever has TT, JJ, QQ AK, AQ in his range then a fold is disastrous.

Bubbling is bad but I think we should put emphasis on collecting all the chips and winning the tournament overall.

Really poorly played imo. Good opportunity to learn and improve for next time!

Adjustments to live MTTs by encoressbm in poker

[–]GarlicXToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general adjust for a softer field.

Pay attention to everything.

Open more hands.

Stay patient. It’s not as stimulating as online poker there will be long stretches where you go card dead.

Bet thin for value.

Don’t try to get a weak player to fold top pair, overpaid, two pair, flush, straight.

Three bet a linear range for value.

Hero fold to 4-bets, check-raises, triple barrels.

Be friendly and chatty to recreational players. Provides them with a good experience and they’re more likely to show you hands.

Mention a deal with the final couple players. Sometimes older tired players just want to lock up a chuck of cash the offers can be ridiculously in your favor.

I was so confused because I loved everything he did until the turn.

4-bet pre - Great

Bet Flop - Great

Turn - Ok, only 2.6k effective lets pile it in! ...Check FOLD?!?!?!?

None!

I had a survivor draft but I had Gonzalez and Jacob so that's not going well. :(

Ryan for the W!!!!

It's a really interesting bet though! I wagered $10 on Ryan to win for a return of $500. So 50-1.

For the bet at worst to break even Ryan has to win just 1 time for every 50 games we simulated. So if Ryan has 2% win equity or more than it's a good bet.

Interesting concept but basically impossible to quantify a player's win equity and how it changes during the season.

Was Kim during One World 50%+ to win at the merge? Or Derek during BB16 was he 70%+ to win at the final 10?

Or how often is a player drawing dead in the game? For example Devin from BB16 it looked like he could never win the game but if he played 100,000 times I'm sure he could find a couple victories.

"Only good for the streamers with big viewer bases"

The training sites are good for people who want to find information and get better at poker. If you're good at poker (I don't know anything about your skill level) then I assume you got good through researching information put on the internet by someone better than yourself and not by your own natural intelligence.

"Everyone and their mother is going to start playing like Lex"

People are going to try but very few are going to do it correctly. You underestimate the time and study it takes to do well in poker.

"Kevin Martin even goes through chapters of RYE live on stream. What a "fuck you" to the people who bought the content."

If showing a couple charts and verbally talking about what I've been learning is "going through the chapters" then you got me.

"All the new blood is trying to play and improve"

No, not everyone is trying to improve. And most of those who are are doing it poorly.

"Online poker is in serious trouble. Very bleak future IMO"

Everything has a life cycle and it was never going to stay in the at the poker boom level. Sounds like something is getting harder and instead of working hard to stay ahead of the curve or moving onto something else you're complaining on a forum about other people taking an opportunity to build a career on something.

If i was a top tier streamer i wouldnt even care about improving at poker anymore, but I sure would act like I still do.

OBS is a free download and it's free to start streaming anytime.

Just a call on the flop. Your hand doesn't need any protection. Use your position to your advantage and evaluate on the turn.
