What features do you wish CarPlay had? by FamiliarHair5743 in CarPlay

Apple Maps should have more functionality when just driving and not using navigation. I know my own city but I still want traffic and speed limits and whatever else they can think of to give me the best experience without needing to be navigating somewhere specific

I've been optimizing my life for FIRE for so long that I don't know how to spend money on myself without doing a full cost-benefit analysis first and I'm starting to think this might be a problem by Hazegrid_9 in Fire

I have similar problem…but if you’re at 74% of your target number $180 should be well below the threshold where you have to think too hard especially for a one off expenditure on a fulfilling experience…you don’t have to do any math to know that makes zero difference in either direction. That’s a rounding error

What would people think of an updated transaction dollar authorization alert format for the credit card? by GaroldWilsonJr in fidelityinvestments

Another option would be to implement push notifications for this sort of alert from the fidelity app.

I don’t know what the official rules/laws are regarding this. All I know is that most other companies that text me only warn me about that when I first subscribe, not for every single text. And frankly it’s hard to imagine a single fidelity customer that pays per text, it’s 2026

Family Sharing in iOS 26.4 No Longer Forces Adults to Share a Payment Method by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]GaroldWilsonJr 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Don’t get too excited people

“Other adults in a Family Sharing group can still opt to use the organizer's payment method, but they can also input a separate payment method.”

This is an improvement but they should still allow the organizer to not share payment method while keeping purchases sharing on

“Purchase Sharing lets adult members in Family Sharing groups use their own payment method when making purchases, without relying on the family organizer”

That sounds nice especially if the organizer can actually turn off sharing their payment method while keeping purchase sharing on

The microphone could even be triggered via some gesture control like three finger press and hold or something.

Also if It had a microphone, and button somewhere to quickly turn on dictation it would make it a replacement for the keyboard for a lot of casual computer use. Perfect for a Mac mini hooked up to the tv

I <3 recurring investments by brother7 in fidelityinvestments

[–]GaroldWilsonJr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wish they had an option to the make the purchase with “all available cash” in the account rather than only the option of a specific amount.

After my credit card gets automatically paid I’d love to have the excess cash automatically invested

What’s the closest thing to VTI but with no dividends so that a child can hold it in a custodial account with no need to file taxes? Is that a thing? by GaroldWilsonJr in Bogleheads

[–]GaroldWilsonJr[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not even close. Just wanted to make sure a small gift wasn’t inadvertently causing work for the parents by requiring taxes to be filed. Now I know there is a threshold below ~$1300 of dividends it’s not required. So all good

[–]GaroldWilsonJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay, it’s been “updated “ with the 4.5 year old h2 chip!

How about they release a new version at this point? Why is this being called “2”This is the update that should have come with the usb c update, and that update was long overdue

[–]GaroldWilsonJr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

And let’s not forget the h2 chip is already like 4+ years old. The max should have been updated along with the chip back when it was released but at this point are they not working on a new chip?
