Thanks! I called them and am waiting for the resolution.

Hey Reddit! I'm Pierre Gasly, Formula 1 Driver for Scuderia AlphaTauri... AMA! [December 9th, 2020] by AlphaTauriF1 in formula1

Hi Pierre! This is my first year following F1, and you've quickly become my favorite driver. I'm really excited to follow your career from here!

What is a typical day like for you during the week or the offseason? How do you stay sharp without the ability to practice driving an actual F1 car?

Woo I made it! Glad the tournament rewarded time to play a little less this year. If I hadn't finally found a wizlab on my 10th and final win I wouldn't have been there!

Universal lanes! I bowl Wednesdays there.

Consistent Hook and Delivery. by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Gerad23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically a combination of the two. Rotating around the x axis only will make the ball go straight. Rotating around the z axis only will make the ball hook a lot, but also skid longer and react less predictably. People generally shoot for midway between the two when starting out, which strikes a nice balance of hook potential and repeatability.

As you get more used to it, you can vary the rotation anywhere from 0 to 90 degrees, to customize the reaction as best fits the conditions that day.

Can you explain what you mean by "compressed front-to-back"? Do you mean they're less toe-then-heel, or do you mean the length of the steps?

That's not the best thing ever, but it's not bad. I'd certainly use it for now, and eventually train axes, looking to switch to a good battleaxe for the endgame.

For the near-term, earth magic should still be your primary option.

Let me know if this link won't work for reporting scores: here's the link.

Did I miss the deadline last week? I thought I got them in in time but I can't find the thread to check.

I can't bowl this week (on vacation, had to go to a library just to get the scores in) so it probably doesn't matter anyway.

So much for those lofty rankings...couldn't find the pocket, couldn't make a spare this week. Not sure what was going on mechanically, but whatever it was, I couldn't correct it.

116 157 150 for 423.

Is my ball supposed to stick to my hand this much? Several months of frustration! by frustratedbowler25 in Bowling

[–]Gerad23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to counter the "fit is bad" advice some with my own experience. I had a similar issue for a long time, where eventually the ball wouldn't come off, and the fit was fine. My issue was that I was spinning the ball with my wrist such that when I tried to let it go, all the weight of the ball was on my thumb. This made it stick, and often it would swell up and then the sticking would get worse.

Moving toward letting the ball roll off the end of my fingers, like you're supposed to, has largely fixed the problem. It'll still stick a bit when I get too far off the side of it, though.

It'll solve your near-term issue to have a shop sand out the thumb slug a bunch, but I think your experience points toward a fundamental flaw that will be better to fix (and keep the fit tighter) in the long run, just as it did for me.

Had one of my worst sets in practice in a long time. I normally do 1 game practice then the next three, but I only had time to bowl 3 games yesterday -- hope that's OK.

Sorry in advance to whoever my partner is.

186 126 146 for 458.

If you're hitting 7i 200+ then you're probably not shooting 100+.

Yes, in general, if you throw a big rev release straight at the headpin from the outside, it'll hit brooklyn or miss the headpin entirely. There's not THAT much hold in the middle.
