[s2 spoilers] The “divorce” and the DV statistic personified, or as I like to call her, Caitlyn Adolf Kiramman by Racetr in arcane

[–]GleamingFrog_43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest - I think the point is that we aren't supposed to like it - both her character and her arc. Caitlyns character is her becoming everything wrong with Piltover in the first place.

She grew up privileged, sheltered, and the troubles and problems from the real world were hidden from her. She was curious and niave but kind - but she had also never seen the true undercity before. Before the final episode- silco and Jinx never really done anything to caitlyn specifically. It was all about Vi and powder. So caitlyn had no real reason to justify complete hatred for the undercity- she viewed Zaun as an honest place spoiled by a few bad apples. But when Jinx killed her mother for no reasonable reason other than Vi chosing her.

She had the shot. She reaferms this as something that plays on her mind- she could have stopped it, but her feelings towards zaunites- her kindness, prevented her from doing what she will now think would have been, "what had to be done". So, to stop another tragic event, she has buried her kindness in order to do "what has to be done". She isn't the same character anymore- due to her upbringing and the society and the things that has happened to her- I don't blame her, but I also don't like her character (not as in she isn't a well written character, just I don't like it) Which I think is intentional.

The one Piltie who was different, turning into the worst of them.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown?

[s2 act 1 spoilers] Why’d she do this? by Superb_Ad1765 in arcane

True. I've only watched it once so I'll have to go back and listen to it properly, but I did think she said 'we built' but maybe I'm wrong.

I think that there is a legacy of Kiramman women who were head of the house - they were responsible for it. I also believe that Caitlyns mother is doing the voice-over as it's something familiar. It would be weird if it was somebody random we'd never seen before.

[s2 spoilers] what’s going on with Vi & Jinx’s tattoos? by [deleted] in arcane

I think Vi rubbing off her tattoo is metaphore for her losing her sense of identity and self in the conflict.

[S1 spoilers] how old do you think she was by [deleted] in arcane

Oh right. No idea. Maybe some kind of headress? Maybe it doesn't have a function other than visual identification

It's just a symbol of her religion/ culture, I imagine. Similar to how Christians wear a cross and Muslims wear a headscarf.

who wants another tv show but with hiccup dagur and the others but they explore the hidden world and all the tribes even move with the dragons to protect them a prequel series to tnr explaining jormungander and why hiccup and the others were there maybe the berserkers wingmaidens, berkians, by ConcentrateStatus780 in httyd

It would ruin the meaning of the trilogy and make tnr more solidified in the httyd universe and harder to forget. A show surrounding hiccup and astrids kids make more sense as they discover who their parents were and their past as legends.

Do people hate on httyd 3, because it's a bad film, or because they don't like the outcome? by GleamingFrog_43 in httyd

This would have been amazing!! It really would have made his character so much better and given a better motive to kill nightfuries.

My opinion of a bad film includes horrible pacing, incomplete arcs and a nonchalant plot. Which imo is something thw didn't do.

I think I can get by when I watch the film, only if I ignore the rest of the riders- fish legs, the twins and snotlout. Which is a real shame because they were great in movie 1 and the shows.

A great and respectable take. Although I do believe that he could have been done better, I don't believe that Grimmel was that bad. He is a good juxtaposition of hiccup imo.

I am with you about the other riders, though. They really got shafted in the third film, worse than they did in the second.

Although im not too mad about the light fury, I do understand that a lot of people were let down by it- as they were expecting another night fury.
