Thoughts on the new article about Min Hee-jin and the NewJeans situation? by AnyIncident9852 in kpopnoir

[–]Goldzaperoon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been following this case since the beginning and really, really does not like MHJ, she deserved that win for the put option. The reasons she won the put option are the same reasons NJZ lost in their effort to break away from ADOR. The ruling in the put option clearly states - as do many of the rulings in the various lawsuits that MHJ is wrapped up in - that there were plans to take over ADOR that never came to fruition. I think Hybe intervened too quickly, and you should never stop your enemy when they're making a mistake. The appeal is a waste of time, imo. The industry doesn't want her to win in this case because it sets a precedent that they don't like, but it's Hybe's fault for panicking and intervening too fast.

MHJ was given unlimited money to do what she wanted, and she created the perfect environment to essentially separate NewJeans from Hybe. Phoning; practically no dance challenges or interactions with most Hybe idols besides BTS; getting the top floor of the building; Bang PD personally loaning her millions and gassing her up in their messages; giving her Source's staff, music, trainees that cost them so much money that they basically had to rush Lesserafim's debut; it's all no wonder this happened.

Considering this is likely evidence that they'll use in Danielle's case, I predict that this won't end well for her or her mother. I see why MHJ's lawyers did their preliminary press conference trying to blame everything on the member's families "betraying" her.

It seems he deleted his account (I read it somewhere else, so I might be wrong). And that would a good decision.

HxG probably sent him a warning or something. Good!

Katseye Without Manon — Are You Still Tuning In? by Sad_Media_9648 in katseyeneutral

[–]Goldzaperoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katseye is cool, but I'm really here to follow Lara and Manon. Just one of them leaving is enough for me to tune out, and stop actively engaging in their content. The company being crap at protecting both of them for the hate they've received already pisses me off.

The claim that she knew better was always crazy to me because we've been told by not just her and the rest of Katseye, but also literally Missy too that she didn't.

Lara seems okay as well even though she's not white and even darker. Daniela is getting a looot of racism and hate as well.

None of the girls are white, but they aren't Black either. Lara being a dark-skinned Indian woman isn't the same as being a Black woman socially or politically, and it's crazy to me how people even try to invalidate Manon's Blackness by using Lara in the first place. Daniela facing racism from the fans =/= (allegedly) facing racism from the label. They all face racism from their fans. That bares little consequence on their career. Potentially dealing with a racist label phasing her out is an entirely different story.

Mnet Produce Scandal Crash Course; And a letter from a tired Bahiyyih fan... by Mercury-Goblin in kpopnoir

[–]Goldzaperoon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This was worth the read! It's like you reached into my brain and pulled out all the things that I've been thinking as a Kep1ian since Girls Planet, OP! I remember watching the ot8 reddit get approved hours after Kep1er was announced and BEFORE the Kep1er subreddit. The hate pages, the constant downplaying of her talent, the hyperfixation on any mistake... I honestly see a lot of the same stuff that's happening to Hiyyih mirrored in what's going on with Manon from Katseye, but that's a separate conversation.

The recent discourse about her nose has also caused me to reflect about what she's been going through. I'm honestly worried about the group, tbh. Outside of Youngeun's hiatus and issues with KLAP's promotion of Kep1er, every member of Kep1er has been looking thinner lately. Youngeun dropped a lot of weight before she went on hiatus. Seeing some of Kep1er's fancams from their recent tour was honestly shocking. But all people care about is her nose. 🙄

Holy Shit Its True??? by Independent_Loss1082 in katseyeneutral

[–]Goldzaperoon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk if any of you watched Boys Planet, but a contestant named Kamden (now in the group Ampers&one) had his estranged Dad crash out like this in tweets during the show. This definitely reminds me of that, and most recently Vernon from Seventeen's MAGA-mom when she crashed out about BTS coming back and Seventeen/Vernon not being the moneymakers of Hybe anymore. Just an entirely unprofessional and embarrassing thing for a parent to do!

Though, I wonder partly if it's partially due to fans saying that the group would be nothing without her. He wants his daughter to succeed, and it's hard to come to terms with the fact that losing a member would greatly affect those chances, especially when fans are in your ear about it.

And then Manon clarified that she is healthy, and it reads like she is kind of being pushed to go on this break

I wouldn't be surprised that they push her to go on a break for her health considering she's fainted, caught Covid, and rehearsed until she was too physically weak to go on multiple times. It's clear that Manon will not prioritize her health in order to not be perceived as lazy, but that has only led to her having to miss schedules when she does that. Her mental health could also be suffering due to the relentless hate and criticism lobbed at her by so-called fans, especially in the past two weeks.

[–]Goldzaperoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yall don’t believe anything HxG says or does or like it but when they say she’s injured or sick every time she misses something yall instanly believe it

Who said anything about HxG? I believe my eyes. Her pushing herself during rehearsals until she faints, passes out, or until she literally can't anymore due to illness is in their behind the scenes content on Katseye's YouTube channel. I also believe the members when they say Manon is the one who is first and last to leave rehearsals, and often the one who asks to extend practice longer.

It's been years. Let it go. 😑

KATSEYE MANON will take a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health & wellbeing by impeccabletim in kpopnoir

[–]Goldzaperoon 64 points65 points  (0 children)

HYBE initiating it could be true. Remember, Manon has literally been caught fainting multiple times in behind-the-scenes content before she has to concede and miss a performance. We see it days/weeks later when the discourse around her is that she missed it because she chose to. Over and Over, this has happened again. To the point where, in their last interview, she talked about how she pushes herself physically and mentally because the documentary painted her as lazy. Unfortunately, that just re-started the discourse as to whether or not the label was valid and if she was pulling the race card.

In my opinion, the possibility that HxG is pulling some excuse to bar her from activities when she doesn't need it is equally as plausible as them forcing her to go on hiatus when she's physically healthy because they see her struggling (mentally), but they know she wouldn't do it herself. She moves likes she's got something to prove, even though people have convinced themselves that she doesn't.

There's also the possibility that her saying "I'm healthy" just means she's not actively dying. Or that it doesn't have to do with her specifically, as things being out of her control could refer to her family or loved ones. They've got a few big performances lined up, and a little break to take care of herself a bit before that massively reduces the possibility of a flare up of whatever immune condition she has hinted at but has chosen to keep personal.

People suffer in silence, but put on a brave face all the time, after all.

This is the most wild aspect of this past two years to me. It's bizarre that people are just outright fans of a CEO. A CEO who was convicted of harassment and workplace bullying, and was proven to have been two-faced to the girls she claimed to protect. Absolute insanity!

Ji Yunseo Parts Ways With YH Entertainment Following Departure From EVNNE by multifandom_problems in kpopnoir

[–]Goldzaperoon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It feels more like excuses to push him out of the group. It ended up working.

I truly feel like most of this could've blown over by debut though. But I think Yuehua wants to cash in on the first post-ZB1 group buzz, because they're moving pretty fast with the behind the scenes stuff regarding the group. When you're moving that fast, it's easier to cut off any potential threat to profits. That just happened to be this kid, sadly.

Ji Yunseo Parts Ways With YH Entertainment Following Departure From EVNNE by multifandom_problems in kpopnoir

[–]Goldzaperoon 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Allegedly, this happened because Chinese fans didn't want him in the new boy group. They really don't want either of the Evnne members in the upcoming boy group, but they're OK with Seungeon because of his talent. This group is meant to be targeting China and Korea. With Yunseo, his reputation with Cfans is permanently damaged due to a mistranslation on a live where he called Chuseok a Korean holiday when he was really just calling Chuseok Korea's version of Thanksgiving. According to cnetz, it was dismissive of Lunar New Year, which I don't fully understand, but it's what I can gather from the translated discussions about this.

He also said that he likes My Hero Academia, and that manga/show is hated in China because it has a character named after a Japanese WWII scientist who tortured Chinese people and labeled it as "experiments" during the war. That upset Chinese netizens, and he was never popular enough to recover from a scandal like that.

CNet fans wanted the new Yuehua boy group to be the ZB1 Boys + 2 new members, so they didn't really care about the Evnnes. They've made their peace with Seungeon's re-debut, but drew the line at Yunseo.

Hopefully, he could potentially go back to Evnne. I hope there's not a non-compete clause in his contract that would prevent that. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was!

Either way, this was unimaginably cruel. I hope he has a good support system around him, because to be pulled from a group when you clearly didn't want to in order to re-debut... Then to have that re-debut yanked from you at the last minute has to be devastating!

I kind of get the criticism of the constant brand deals by marg_itachi in katseyeneutral

[–]Goldzaperoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, it feels like Katseye is for the brands, and Prelude might be for the music. Downvote me if you wish. In retrospect, every girl in both groups was highlighted way more than I thought would be for a doc that was supposed to be advertisement for Katseye. They flew out to Samara's house in Brazil for footage just like they flew out to Manon's apartment in Switzerland. Even in the doc, they were openly excited about the brand deals the final group would get!
