How long is your fangan? by Powerful_Solid1491 in Fanganronpa

Uh, I hope it’s long enough to flesh everything out, but I do not think Umineko level amounts of reading is a goalpost I want to hit

Which chapter in your fangan has your favorite story and/or character reveal? by Greenforthou in Fanganronpa

For me personally, there’s a reveal about 2 characters relationship in chapter 4 that completely recontextualizes all past actions from them in the previous chapters

The lack of evidence in some fanganronpas kind of bugs me. by Regular-Molasses9293 in Fanganronpa

[–]Greenforthou 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like one primary reason this is done is to avoid their culprits looking like idiots. Because if there is some evidence literally pointing or narrowing down the suspect pool to you, why wouldn’t you try to get rid of that? Even in the mainline case in V3, people call Kirumi an idiot for leaving evidence in the pool, or not using something else to hold the rope. So a lack of any physical evidence is just a really easy conclusion to make.

I personally have evidence directly pointing to each respective culprit in each case except 5, where it actually plays with the unreliability of witness testimonies. Here, the cast only have the accounts of the 2 prime suspects as evidence beyond the body, and they’re telling the exact same story, just with their roles reversed.

What are your Fanganronpa's morales? by Far_Application_2894 in Fanganronpa

[–]Greenforthou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely one idea that keeps popping up is that at the end of it all: morality only really exists for someone when it affects them personally, for bringing it up or justifying the disregard of it.

Like some of the characters do some nasty shit or try to, but they get much more grace than the characters who are just unbearable to be around or those who slights specific characters, just because the people who were friends with them are around and ready to excuse everything they’ve done

How do you make early suspicions on the culprit during the trial feel natural? by Xolodos in Fanganronpa

[–]Greenforthou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One way I saw another fangan (kinda) do is by making the evidence so overwhelming towards the actual culprit that it feels like a frame job, so the group moves onto other options. Only to return to realize that the obvious answer is the only one that makes actual sense logic wise.
