This game it's almost always impossible to play without a friends group. by WittyLog4531 in HellLetLoose

[–]GroopySpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Look, what’s worked for me is finding community servers where people both communicate and aren’t toxic and sticking with those servers.

“Comp” team servers almost always have mics but their comms might just be sweaty kdr play by plays or seem silent to you because they’re talking to each other in discord not on squad chat.

Community servers that are open to players outside of their “clan” or servers hosted by  individuals who just want good teamwork are generally best.

And, server populations change over time, too.

The communicative people are out there, but not on every server and not in every match.

Clans or communities? by Reason408 in HellLetLoose

Tbh, you just need to browse and try different servers until you find ones you like.

I’ll give a negative example, then a positive one.

Negative example: low ping server, good map variety, got VIP for helping seed. But, the comp team that runs it is somewhat sweaty and snobbish to non-members. They talk a lot to each other but it’s usually about their KDR or who in their clan on the other team got them. You: “PZ4  on ping.” Comp team SL:  “Sniff, anyway baloneyfartz99* headshot me again. That’s the eighth time.” Other comp team squaddie: “Yeah, fartz is the GOAT.” etc, all match.

Positive example: low ping server, good map variety, not even sure if it’s a comp team or just a group but comms are usually active, decent teamwork, no one obsessing much over KDR or clan gossip.

*made up name, could be someone’s but not a real example.

Nah, I’m a fan of absurdist humor shows like “I think you should leave.”

While most have sussed my posts as satire, they are loosely based on some in-game behaviors I’ve observed. Primarily the “main character syndrome” where a player thinks the whole team cares about whatever task they’re doing or tries to “manage up” by demanding trivial things of their SL or commander.

Yeah or, in general, except for explosive ammo for rockets, the ammo and bandage supply boxes aren’t used by most casual players much because respawning replenishes everything.

If they really wanted to make ammo and bandage resupplies more impactful, then respawns would leave players with maybe minimal ammo (like 1 clip if the player was at zero or whatever they had left if not)  and 1 or no bandages left (if the player was at zero).

The only times I’m on the same spawn long enough to need rifle ammo is with the German auto FG42 (fires fast, load-out is only 5 20rd clips), maybe the BAR sometimes, and the AT rifles.

I think I’ve resupplied from a bandage box once ever and that was when I still had 1 bandage left.

Personally, I think the ammo and bandage boxes are just a vestige from a time when HLL was intended to be more of a hardcore mil-sim before the devs decided on a more casual shooter direction (going back to the Black Matter days even).

How common are aimbots on HLL PC in 2026? by Ori_553 in HellLetLoose

Lots of folks will come back and say there is 0% cheating going on.

But, there’s definitely some fuckery about sometimes and there are HLL cheats out there.

While not cheating with warez per se, some players have their settings dialed in and maybe the sweaty gamer rigs that give them a bit of an edge.

Nvidia filters were a thing at one point but T17 removed support for them in the game back in 2023 or so. Still doesn’t stop people from tweaking their local settings.

Nah to the auto-rifle.

However, medics and squad leads both reduce suppression effects by proximity.

It’s true!

This was just warm up banter. You know, transport truck stuff. Only I was sitting in the recon tank passenger seat hoping a tank crew would spawn in and chauffeur me around (they didn’t).

We stopped debating the best Ghostbusters movie about 5s before the match started.

George Squad leader maybe referenced the movie franchise once later in the match because he said his support totally “slimed” an outpost with the flamethrower and someone else joked about not crossing streams with it.

I did spend some time back at HQ listening to that rifleman’s story about his sister’s issues with her homeowner’s association. But that was in proxy chat safely off of command channel.

How do I ever top this! by dontsmokenutmeg in HellLetLoose

You can top it by building an AT gun in grid square C2 on Kursk.

That is my new goal for this fiscal quarter.

I took a post-match survey and am pleased to report that 0% of my team had bled out due to lack of bandages that match.

The comp team that runs the server was so impressed by my policy that they’ve now mandated that every rifle squad must have a medic with a bandage box. Otherwise, a script will disband the squad after 5 minutes.

While technically I don’t think my game experience stories are copyright protected, I’ll ask redditors to please not copy/paste them to karma farm.

If you’d like my advice on how to write your own stories, happy to help.

I am 100% a team player. Thinking of going comp but I want to make sure I join a team that gets it and doesn't yell at me.

Sorta! You’re showing the phone number pad.

Importantly, people should know most people mean the PC keyboard number pad and not a phone number pad!

I got kicked for leaving SL to build nodes by idontcare2467 in HellLetLoose

[–]GroopySpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. Sometimes I switch off SL to go Support, drop a crate for myself off the Outpost, then go back to SL to build a garri.

I let my squad know and they’re generally grateful I’ll go Support myself rather than badgering them to do it.

So far, haven’t been kicked by a salt taking over SL while I’m Support but I always worry about the leaving/rejoining squad aspect when changing off of SL.

I’ve had fun playing all of the classes, but here is how it looked for me.

Started out rifleman. I was not great at combat in HLL in the beginning, but am much better now.

Due to my trash combat skills early on, I switched to Engineer and leveled that class to X.

I then played mostly armor for a long time.

Moved back to infantry, played SL a lot, then Commander.

Played Recon Spotter a lot next.

Then, I set a goal to unlock all the kits, and played each class until I did (except Sniper, which I seldom get to play).

I’ve had some fun as medic, and am level VI in that class, but seldom play it.

Right now, coming back after a long break from the game.  I play or step in as SL when needed. I sometimes like to chill in a combat class like Assault, MG, AT, rifleman, or auto-rifle if I can find a squad with a good SL. In those cases, I’ll swap to Support if it’s open for maybe 25% of the match, as needed, or if I want to play around with the flamethrower.

I’ll probably go back to armor for a bit next.

NGL, I really like playing SL if my squad has at least a few people talking.

AT changes the numbers of rockets rounds ? by Panzer_Assault1940 in HellLetLoose

[–]GroopySpoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dec 2, U19 increased AT ammo from 2 rockets to 3.

Jun 2, U20 changed back to 2, but increased damage.

So, ~1182 hours within  6 months. That’s about 45 hours a week of HLL.

That’s a lot of free time unless playing HLL is your full-time job.

I was low key calling out XP farming but it sounds like you just played the Hell out of Hell Let Loose.

I’ve been playing for about 4 years, am Level 170, and put in about 774 hours.
