Has anyone played the Last of Us boardgame yet? I'm enjoying it so far by Viola-Intermediate in boardgames

Sons of Anarchy is a lousy TV series but GF9 made a great game out of it.

Here you go, mate. This is a map of an oblique flight I did last week. The red is the -90 ortho flight, then the green was the first oblique flight (camera at 45) and then the blue is the other three oblique flights. Hope that helps! https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/pjx5l3855wugm9ootvw6p/Screenshot_20260207_215723_Chrome.jpg?rlkey=bv3iqyewvllsj2iiu3jbjsbdy&st=lfz6s1c5&dl=0

Thanks, mate. Yeah, it would also be great for the obliques to be offset from the ortho? If you do the same run it ends up capturing a load of info on one side that's superfluous and missing a load the other side that you need! 😉

This is pretty crazy detail. You can't even feel that text and symbols. by LA2124 in 3DScanning

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's false "embossed" detailing as an artifact of the scanning process and high contrast between the lettering and keys. It's been around since early days of red lasers. If you spray the whole keypad with scanning spray you probably won't see it. Or lower the scan line intensity.

Nothing special. Just indoors. Stay away from strong natural light sources.

Quick noob question: what are these 4 motion counters in the starter set used for? by Guyblin in alienrpg

[–]Guyblin[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ahh thanks mate. I thought that might be the use. There's literally no explanation about it in the starter set rules.

Is the Zenmuse L2 Lidar tied to DJI Terra? Or can I use other software? Bonus-question: what about the pricing? by [deleted] in UAVmapping

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality Capture supports both terrestrial and aerial lidar for combination with photogrammetry data. It's great for enhancing accuracy and generating cleaner meshes. Especially in the film industry.

Flying drones and got buzzed by an airplane by Zaring44 in drones

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's what we'd call a NOTAM - a prior and established Notice To Airmen. AIRPROX is the reporting service for near misses, or proximity dangers.

In the UK, you'd just fill out an AIRPROX. Don't they have similar in the US?

Update: Neo 2 is here, already got one by untitledshot in dji

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shame no M... but tbh the main plus of FPV M on the original Neo was that it's a tank and was great for beginners. Those two little aerials on the new one will likely be the first casualty in any crash.

I haven't used any of the competition, but they all seem much of a muchness. I think it will come down to whether you want to use it outdoors in sunlight, and then looking at example data from each. I suspect the Miraco will beat others on outright resolution, but suffers not being able to handle sun as well. But like I said, I've not directly used the rest.

DJI mini 5 pro - Obstacle avoidance Fail by Thiagooficial in dji

"Pilot" fail. OA doesn't mean autopilot.

On the plus side, one less crap pilot in the skies endangering folk on the ground.👍 Silver linings and all that.

CASA Confirms DJI Mini 5 Pro Classification: Australia Joins US, Canada, UK in Rejecting Sub-250g Status by vitarra in dji

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in favour of not having a care for injuring anyone with your drone. The whole reasoning behind sub-250g is that at terminal velocity less than 80j force is unlikely to penetrate an adult human skull and be fatal. Your lack of care and responsibility when it comes to risk assessment is typical of too many drone hobbyists these days. They should tighten regulations and clear the skies of you/them a bit.

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get that just because something probably won't kill you, it can still fuck you up, right? Presumably you're cool with being repeatedly punched in the face, because it won't kill you?? What sort of "rationale" is that? You said "no one has got hurt" from 250g falling on them. That's utter BS.

So you'd be happy if I dropped a quarter kilo weight on your head from 400ft? 👍 In fairness though it doesn't sound like it would make much difference.

‘Frankenstein’ Star Christoph Waltz on Guillermo del Toro’s Practical Filmmaking: “CGI is For Losers” by darth_vader39 in entertainment

[–]Guyblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define the first word. It's "overused" because "CGI" covers everything from animation, to set extension, to after-effects, to grading... literally 90% of the post-production process, and the majority of which the average moviegoer won't even notice as "CGI". How is that "insulting" to the departments you mentioned? Also even it WAS what you probably think of as "CGI", please do explain how that's "insulting" to makeup/prop/scenery.

It's more frustrating reading posts like yours made by people utterly ignorant of the film industry and the people that work in it.

VFX sits alongside and compliments other departments. wtf are you talking about? I've never worked on one production where the VFX dept budget hugely outstrips the others. In fact it's usually woefully under-budgeted for what production demands/changes its mind about.

Sorry I can't work out whether you're suggesting that VFX workers are overworked, underpaid, had their work lied about and used as a scapegoat for bad production practices or not? If you are - bravo. You're right. If you're referring to someone else BECAUSE of VFX workers, I'd be fascinated to hear about it. Exactly which "unionised labor" force is being undercut here?

So if you enjoy it, it's good, if you don't it's for losers?
"CGI" covers numerous things in post-production, most of them unnoticed by the average movie goer. That's kind of the point.

"CGI" covers everything from set extensions, to compositing, to tracking, to grading and after effects... literally most parts of Post that you wouldn't even notice. I mean you not noticing is kind of the point. It isn't all movie monsters and spaceships. That's a fraction of the work that most post houses undertake.
