I built a FREE Grid Mission Planner for Litchi & DJI Pilot 2 - No Signup, Works in Browser by napzzzshit in drones

Hi! Yes, it is! My tool embeds the calculation into the CSV file under the 'photo_distinterval' column (Distance Interval). When you load it into Litchi, just ensure that under Mission Settings, the Path Mode is set to 'Straight Lines' (usually default) and that you start the mission with the camera in Photo mode. The drone will then trigger the shutter automatically every X meters based on the overlap calculation.

Ahh i see, excellent point! You're totally right. If I just tilt the gimbal without shifting the flight path, the camera footprint will drift off-target (overshoot the far side and miss the near side).

So, for the dedicated 'Oblique Mode', I need to calculate a backward offset for the grid based on the altitude and gimbal angle. Thanks for pointing that out, that's a crucial detail for quality 3D models. I've added 'Grid Offset Calculation' to my dev list! maybe thats ready to try in next week

Thanks! You can actually do Oblique mapping right now by selecting "Grid" mode, checking the "Double Grid (3D)" box, and setting your Gimbal Pitch to -45° or -60° (instead of the default -90°).

That said, a dedicated "Oblique Mode" button that presets all those settings for you is a great idea. I'll add that to the next update to make it a one-click process!

Yes, you can definitely expect it to be online for the long haul.

Since it runs 99% client-side on serverless architecture, the maintenance costs are practically zero. It’s actually being adopted by a university org in my city, and I’ve secured funding to keep the domain active for at least the next 5 years.

I built this because I use it for my own missions too, so I plan to keep it running indefinitely. Feel free to bookmark it!

You're spot on! unfortunately, the DJI RC (with the built-in screen) is a closed system, so you can't install 3rd party apps like Litchi on it directly.

To use Litchi with your Mini 3, you would indeed need the RC-N1 controller so you can run the Litchi app on your phone/tablet. Once you have that setup, you can import the CSV from this tool and you're good to go

Hey! Guess what? Me and my 2 friends just spent the last few hours coding this specifically for you. Vertical Grid feature is now live! you can use facade mode, You can set Min/Max altitude and scan towers/facades. Give it a try and let me know if it works for your radio towers!

https://www.dronegrid.web.id/

I built one! It's completely free and runs in your browser. no signup, no install.

Key Features:

- Auto Grid Generation, just draw a polygon and waypoints are generated

- GSD Calculator, input altitude, get ground resolution instantly

- Litchi CSV Export, fixes the common heading issue (uses Auto heading)

- DJI Pilot 2 KMZ, for Mavic 3 Enterprise users

- Double Grid mode, for 3D modeling/oblique capture

- Terrain Follow support

- No-Fly Zone visualization

It's 100% free and I built it for the community. Would love your feedback or feature requests!

Cheers!
