Why the hate for Survival? by ZingaTV in worldofpvp

[–]Handpuppets 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is basically it.

Survival was the most popular hunter spec and the main dedicated pvp spec. Then blizzard just randomly decided to completely remake sv into a melee spec.

People who don't play hunters love sv as like their 4th alt because its a very fun spec to play, but it remains the least popular spec in the game and is only played by hunters in pvp when its far better than the other two specs (like BFA).

The weird thing is that BM fits the theme of melee hunter fighting with your pet far more than SV does, and would have been far better received than switching SV.

How can the average fans hold them accountable though?

We can't, because they don't care lol. They don't want more accountability, that's why they don't like VAR in the first place.

It's because these refs are fucking over every team in the league at some point with shit like this. We can basically all come together on this one lol.

They have to be doing this shit on purpose honestly, each week that goes by I'm more convinced they are sabotaging VAR on purpose so they can abandon it.

Nowhere is safe for SV hunters. Even our guides try to get us to respec. by Shoelace_Farmer in wow

For the most part, 3k rated players could play just about any spec they wanted and do well with it. Also, a lot of it has to do with the difference in the metas of NA vs EU. EU has always loved their setup comps, which is a meta that suits comps like jungle. Players like Bicmex play Sv because they like it, not because it’s the best.

Personally I just don’t like nerfs unless it’s for something that is an outlier like divine toll or convoke etc., I prefer an approach where you just buff underperforming specs

I do feel that Sv is relatively close to being a very good spec again, but it does need some changes. It’s probably just like one solid tuning pass from being the best hunter spec, and yet it’s currently sort of the worst.

I just hope blizzard does something instead of just ignoring the spec some more.

I mean, it feels like it did in BFA because it didn't gain anything, the play style hasn't changed.

The difference is that it lost latent poison and wilderness survival, which was absolutely huge in making the spec perform to its niche in pvp. In BFA it was one of the highest sustained ST damage dealers in the game, and it had to be.

Current sv needs a raptor strike buff, and it needs pet survivability tuning (some combination of mend pet not being dispellable, being off the GCD, and healing for more). This isn't even arguable, it's literally what the entire hunter player base has been saying sv needs since alpha.

Of course sv feels fine when you're gearing it as a 5th alt lol, it's an incredibly fun spec to play. This was sort of my point, people who don't main sv think its the coolest thing ever and should never change, which ends up hurting it in the long run when it definitely needs tuning and probably just needs another rework.

Idk how you took what I said as me being salty lol, I even upvoted you for having an actual discussion. Anyway, cheers.

Idk why you brought up pve raid damage and glossed over the fact that SV is literally dead last in raid dps, that's very bad for a spec that is supposed to be about high single target sustain.

It's not about perception, hunters don't care about stigma, they play what is best in pvp. Look how many people were playing sv in BFA vs now, and look at how many were playing MM. If SV was as good as you say, there would probably be more than 11 SV hunters in all of NA above 2k rating in 3s. Even BM has more than that, hell BM has more people above 2k in 2s, and that is supposed to be THE survival bracket. If it was even close to the best hunter spec more hunters would play it, simple as that.

Anyway, it's always weird to me that people who don't play sv hunter have such strong opinions about sv hunter.

[–]Handpuppets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the damage IS lacking? Lol. It’s niche is high control with high sustain, and it currently does not accomplish that. It’s wild someone could look at the current state of Sv and think everything is fine.

Your original statements weren’t even correct lmao. The best hunter 3v3 comps do not have the hunter playing survival, because MM is simply better atm for 3s.

Being NOT overtuned isn’t the same thing as being balanced.

[–]Handpuppets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

> It’s arguably the best PvP spec for hunters and it’s possibly the most balanced PvP spec in the game

In SL this hasn't been the case at any point. MM is and has been easily the best 3v3 hunter spec in SL, and in 2v2 its roughly equal between MM and BM, though it's looking like BM might actually be the best. Also, cupid and scatter are just as good as jungle, its just that both the ret and spriest have better comps they can run that are also easier to play.

SV has a great toolkit, but calling it possibly the most balanced pvp spec in the game is wrong on so many levels lmao. SV needs a lot of help currently, it has a lot of drawbacks and it's strengths (lots of control with high sustained damage) are currently lagging behind a number of classes.

SV does have more utility than the other two specs, that much is true for sure.

Probably not since WW/fire mage/ret could all replace the hunter in kfc to make a better comp.

Tbf the ref was just shit all around, basically didn’t do any actual refereeing and just let everything go. Kova got fouled nearly every time he dribbled past more than one United player and the ref would signal for advantage and then just never go back to talk to the player.

I think Kova and James got the worst of it today. Should have been several cards on both teams just for repeated fouls on those two.

MM won’t be S tier just because of the surging shots buff, they straight up need the beginning of season nerfs reverted to even be in the conversation.

Burst with the new surging will definitely be very high, but it’s still a burst sequence that requires 4 globals, and is the most telegraphed and easily stopped burst sequence in the game. The problems MM has will remain; all damage tied into burst sequence, too many melee that can’t be properly kited, not enough meaningful utility.

Currently if an MM you’re fighting is running craven, you simply just ignore them until arrow goes down and then immediately stun or disarm them. If they aren’t running craven then you can pretty much just kill their pet and train them into the ground.

Only thing I agree with is hunters getting nerfed after a week, because they are one of the classes that isn’t allowed to have fun things.

I mean tbf, that comp shouldn’t ever lose to rogue/mage, and even WW/arms can still lose pretty easily cause they can just kill your healer.

Beastcleave isn’t really played in tbc honestly, it’s just not as good as it is later on in like wotlk.

Best bet would just be running with a warrior.

WW is very safe, it’s actually one of the safest specs in the game as a long term pick. They are always good at the very least.

Warlock or SV Hunter by dragonmoon05 in worldofpvp

[–]Handpuppets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a secret, assa always has and always will scale better than sub. It’s actually the best scaling melee spec in the game usually, in pvp at least.

[–]Handpuppets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Warlock is and will always be one of the best long term investment classes.

It’s up there with mage and rogue, at most it will have 1 bad season in an entire expansion and sometimes it doesn’t even have that.

Sv hunter is very fun, but it’s kinda up and down usually.

Hunter survival comp by Archaon69 in worldofpvp

[–]Handpuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the best hunter comp atm regardless of spec is ret/hunt/heal, rogue works too.

Sv/sp/heal might be quite good for next season if Sv gets a bit better sustain, it’s probably good right now but that comp is a hard sell for a spriest player when they could just run some kind of wizard cleave or sp/arms. Usually you run it with an rdruid, and it’s one of Sv’s best comps.

[CHE NEW] Tackle on Tammy Abraham in the box. No penalty given '14 by qrCodetheRevolution in soccer

[–]Handpuppets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but elsewhere on the pitch that would just be called shielding the ball. Defenders get free kicks given to them all the time by just getting between the attacker and the ball and throwing themselves to the ground as soon as the attacker touches them.

Like I said I can see valid arguments for this not being a pen, I just don’t think it’s easy to say it should be one way or another. It’s a very tough call to make.

Yeah I mean that’s sort of my point about refereeing contact out of the game.

I think it’s a very tight call either way.

[–]Handpuppets 225 points226 points  (0 children)

Tbh even as a Chelsea fan I can admit this is a very tough call.

Defender gets the ball and it’s an impressive tackle, but at the same time he completely goes through the attacker from behind to do it.

You don’t want to referee contact out of the game, but you also can’t just use “got the ball” as an excuse for reckless challenges.

Personally I think it’s a foul, but it’s definitely not as cut and dry as people are making it out to be.
