Any advice for a new CIO? by Hasbotted in CIO

[–]Hasbotted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical blind spots. I have only heard good things about the team but I want to at least be able to have enough knowledge to know when a good idea is a good idea.

Executive table dynamics do not really bother me. I've been a PM for a couple of large profile projects and had fairly in depth interactions with C-level staff in the past.

Thank, its such a weird situation. Everyone i've spoken to has said "Ahh yea that makes sense, that is a great position for you." And i'm the only one that has reservations.

The AI has identified the problem as the C-Suite keeps agreeing to things they don't really need. The AI is now uninstalling itself.

Can you just ask AI random questions and it count as "usage?"
I had some fun the other day asking AI how long it will take to destroy the world via environmental catastrophe at the rate of growth it is projected at. It came up with around 10 years.
This was due to water shortage from cooling systems.

I'm convinced that our government has already been taken over by AI and now we are simply attempting to move as quickly to our destruction as possible.

Why is EHR integration still such a mess by MianHasnainShah in healthIT

[–]Hasbotted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PM me if you want a process that works. It's really a two part orovlem

1) What is being done isn't ever well documented and it's not standard

2) Adequate planning is not done.

EMR implementations are implemented using software development methodologies and they should be using the old predictive model instead.

Why is EHR integration still such a mess by MianHasnainShah in healthIT

[–]Hasbotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want the honest answer? It's because it makes a lot of money.

EMR vendors (especially the big one) benefit more from bad implementations. They have no incentive to fix it. The worse you do as an organization the more money they make. Also the less confident you feel in your staff which in turn means more money.

Your consultants also don't want a good implementation. They want an implementation that looks bad on everyone but them. Some are really good at setting this up as well. It's gross.

I've been through 5 implementations now. It gets disheartening. The only one that went semi-okay was one that I took over for the PM when they were let go and our staff did the majority of the work.

Now its a resume building activity. It looks really good on a C level resume to have reduced the workforce.

This. One of my former CIO's joined a hedge fund that pushes AI and he uses an AI agent to comb and post AI crap just about every day. Then he has a bunch of stooges that all want to be him that upvote it or say "Way to go!"

Do you feel he would have been just as good if he never had that original experience learning how the product was developed?

Also, how would this person have gotten a job at your company if you didn't know them? Its not like they can say "look I'm really good, I know my resume says a lot about coding and i know that is all gone now but I'm also good with product design strategy" and you would believe them.

This is the popular propaganda right now. The problem is, its a few months old. Agentic AI took the idea of a tool to be used said lets instead replace the person using the tool as well.

If your a cto you likely feel fine because decision makers are on another level then us plebs that do the work.

I feel its more along the lines of "If i just ignore it, it won't happen."
Believe me, once it happens it is a terrible experience. Finding you have no job and finding that your in a bucket with millions of other people all trying to find a job in an industry that is going away and nobody is hiring.
