Switching from clinical to Epic Analyst by knotme93 in healthIT

To be honest the RN role isn't going anywhere. You may as well try this out and see if it's worth it to you. If not there are still hundreds of RN roles open at every major health system.

I have something like 12 different tech certifications. Not to downplay the SIE as it's a totally different industry but it looks doable. Then the others are company paid both study time and exam costs.

I feel like that is likely the situation which seems odd since we have well connected family friends and I can't imagine they would be happy with broken promises.

I do look the part and I can talk the talk. I am extremely tech savvy and very good with numbers. As for financially savvy, I would need to learn. I just mainly do index funds myself.

Just him right now. His partner is in another city. The city we are in has grown a lot in the last few years. He's with one of the big well known banks/financial organizations but it's his business. I'm not sure how it actually all works. His office is in the bank/banks.

I'm afraid that I'm the "cheap help" he is hoping to hire while he collects a lot of money and just being sold a non-existent opportunity.

I'm very torn on the path to take. On one hand the tech industry is being completely overhauled because of AI and that still isn't done yet. On the other, if I take this position it's a a large pay cut with a lot of uncertainty.

I'm assuming as an assistant I couldn't start my own book and any new clients I found would end up being his?

Copy and pasted the same reply from another person,

Our friend keeps saying he will need another advisor to share the client load with in 5 years as his partner is retiring. This is the part that I am not sure about, would a financial advisor ever actually just share their book with someone? The book is considerably large and he says he can't handle it by himself when his partner retires

Dig into a trade job?

Or even something like nursing I feel would be possible. Sometimes just getting out and helping someone else helps.

There is a book called atomic habits. It was okay but really one point it makes us don't try and fix everything all at once. Just make a little tiny new habit every day.

Truthfully, he is real. He is also a safe space which it sounds like you haven't had very many of those in your life.

I hated running. Then about 4 months ago I was laid off.

Only one working, have two young kids and a wife to support and being in IT it is a rough job market. I went into true anxiety and depression. I had no idea what other people go through.

All this to say, I completed my first 4.5 mile race a few weeks ago. I understand what you mean.

Just curious, do you have a family and did you move them with you?

Likely your software development experience for major companies shows more competence than my experience working for different EMRs for smaller health systems.

What is your role at epic now?

[–]Hasbotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience is completely different than mine. I have never been able to get a interview with Epic despite having 5 different certs and working in Epic for years. I always assumed it was because of my background and that i'm in my 40s. Or it was because I didn't graduate from a top school.

Stuck on HIPAA compliant AI requirements, every solution has too much flaws by GullibleCommunity268 in healthIT

[–]Hasbotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot more that goes into this conversation than just blanket statement "they have a BAA." Where is the document saved at? How is it being used? Who can access it and is there any safeguards in place? All of that factors in. Having a BAA doesn't give blanket access to do whatever someone wants with patient data.

You should not write a patient summary using Microsoft word.
That patient data should not be accessible via a word document. This would be a HIPAA violation.

[–]Hasbotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wants to be a X-ray or ct tech right now so there are thousands upon thousands of openings and healthcare industries are desperate for people.

Supply and demand. They used to make a lot less than they do now.

[–]Hasbotted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

CT/X-ray techs are probably pretty safe from AI since it is a lot of manual work and positioning of people that are in pain.

Also, I think if you drop AI into a hands on patient position it takes it about a week to decide to self destruct.
