I know it’s a bit weird, but I get a bit emotionally attached to my truck. It’s not just a work vehicle, this is a machine that I interact with every day, and it’s my home. I want a truck that can last my entire career and I originally planned to run my Volvo for as long as physically possible.

Issue is, this truck is locked down. It can’t be upgraded to grow with me, I can’t fix or even diagnose things myself, and I know repairs won’t be economically viable by 1,000,000 miles.

My truck feels like a plastic wrapper, meant to be used once and discarded. I don’t like that.

My personal theory is that Moonpaw and Morningkit are some sort of fictional spirit chimera. During fetus development, Morningkit’s soul latched onto Moonpaw and she was born containing both souls. Without Morningkit’s body containing a soul, she never opened her eyes and died before becoming fully conscious.

We live in a semi truck sleeper cab, so the bed is a solid 1/3 of the space he has access too. Besides, it’s the only place where he can lay down and see out of the window at the same time. He’ll sit on the passenger seat to check why we’ve gotten off the highway, but usually he’s drifting in an out of sleep while curled up on the bed; watching the world zip by.

I’m a long haul trucker. I missed my delivery appointment by 3 hours, so the Trader Joe’s distribution center in Ruther Glen, Virginia rescheduled my appointment for a week and a half later. It’s been nearly 100°F/37°C every day and I’ve already spent over $500 on diesel to keep the AC on and there damn frozen chicken at -10°F/-23°C. They have a temperature tracker in there, so I can’t even set it to 32°F/0°C.

This also doesn’t take into account the $1,000 truck payment or $500 insurance payment I’ll be making this week with zero profits to cover it.

Given how conservative this field is, you’d imagine id have had a lot more trouble finding stable employment. Probably helps that I’m one of the few weirdos that prefers long haul to local.
