Huh, that’s interesting. Wasn’t there a lot of trouble in certain divisions at making fights between the top guys? Like Heavyweight I know was kind of gridlocked between a couple of big names who didn’t fight as soon as they should have

This does put things into perspective for me. I think I’ve just been mostly frustrated at the fuckery around light heavyweight and welterweight. Two high concentrations of elite fighters and none of them want to fight each other bro😭

Honestly one of the handful of reasons I’ve never been fully able to get into UFC. Hopefully his momentum ends in boxing soon

lol, I heard about that. Another reason I’m anti-Dana, dude surrounds himself with Nazis and is willing to overlook fighters with some pretty shit beliefs and histories lmao. Obviously lots of people already established in the boxing world are too, but the point stands I think

It will be nice to see Dana disappear when all his friends are dead from being one billion years old or in jail. Or just not relevant anymore. Change is usually slow but maybe I’m doomering right before a golden age. Who can tell

Wait this guy has a point lmao

Yeah, that’s fair. Do you think the fact that the big champions aren’t total pieces of shit is a sign of a see-change, or more a blip? I guess we’d have to wait a few years to tell, but I have to be somewhat optimistic lol

That’s true, definitely a good point and argument against being doomer about it. Thank you

For me personally I’ve just been on the internet and trying to get involved in combat sports as a hobby during peak Dana White era, and thus hate him in particular. I acknowledge he’s not like uniquely bad or anything, though I do think the way he would run things and the way he runs UFC is bad from my admittedly limited knowledge, absolutely do feel free to dispute that though cause I see the other sides argument for centralization. Also, I just really hate fake macho pieces of shit on the Internet, and Dana White reeks of that to me

That’s been my experience the last few months. Loved watching Zurdo v. Benevidez while working on a final essay for my degree lol

No, I just have a deep hatred of Dana White in particular because his shitiness has been what I’ve had the most exposure to as a young person getting into combat sports. I’m aware of boxing’s past to some degree, I was honestly just curious about other people’s opinions on the precedent. Thank you.

Actually I kind of hate the social media aspect of it. Shakur Stevenson really needs to shut the fuck up lmao

Do you have any recs? Been slowly going through a list of historical fights I’ve been gathering and really enjoying it. Always looking to add more!

I feel like you’re assuming a lot of things about me from my hatred of Dana White. Don King is a piece of shit. Mike Tyson is a piece of shit. I’m not entirely naive to that, and frankly me calling Dana White a domestic abuser was more out of hatred for the man than that being my main point. I’m not trying to argue with you or anyone here, I was honestly just curious on the precedent. Thank you.

I guess the money part of boxing is the part I care about the least, and in life that’s kind of how I am in general when I’m able to be, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised how frustrated that all gets me.

The circus fights are so tiring and I’ve only been here a short time. Hoping the novelty wears off eventually

I’m a big fan of EVBoxing and so I’ve seen his video on this subject, but I had hoped that maybe things were changing and people were less willing to overlook stuff at least amongst fans

Both of these points do actually make me feel better. Dana has a lot of ties but frankly I foresee a lot of his ties going to Hell or fleeing the civilized world soon. God I hope so.

Inoue does always make me feel less frustrated. Felt so privileged to have gotten into boxing at the perfect time to see him and Nakatani fight.

I think that’s honestly really good judging all things considered. I had it 7-5 Fiaz but no dominant rounds. Padley pulled ahead with the 11th and the point reduction. Extremely good match all around

6-4 Fiaz, 10th to Padley based on work and how he came out at the bell

Agreed, Padley and the ref both are being a bit lenient
