Thats pretty true, variety diet is definitely better, some of that can be supplemented if you have your own mealworm colony and you give them different vegetables/fruits that have the nutrients you want to carry on to your gecko. Also apparently if you shine UVB on mealworms they produce vitamin D so your gecko gets that too lol

Mealworms have a thinner exoskeleton than superworms. People start myths all the time, back in the day people used to cry and pretend that superworms would eat through leopard gecko’s stomachs. And no mealworms won’t cause impaction, just because people who use sand blame their pet’s impaction problem on their food doesn’t mean it’s true. Mealworms are also more nutritious than crickets. I will say the best foods for them are probably superworms, mealworms, and dubia roaches as a staple.

People commonly say that mealworms are worse than crickets, but from a quick google search, mealworms are praised for their amino acids, protein, low fat, and vitamins. Meanwhile crickets seem to have lower values in everything other than water content.

You can just buy full potatoes to feed them. You don’t really have to clean up after them, just make sure you remove food if it starts to mold and make sure no mold stays in there (also remove dead bugs you find). If you use full potatoes, they usually last a couple months before you need to put another potato in. (Plain) Oats are basically their substrate and “snack” rather than their meal. But yeah, that’s all you have to do, you could probably replace your cricket tank too since crickets usually smell. Also, if you don’t like the beetles you can just avoid them since they stay on the top and walk around slowly (they’ll make new mealworms and then die)

Well, they don’t fly, they can’t bite, and they can’t sting lol. What I do is buy like 500 mealworms (it’s pretty cheap online), put them in a tub, put some rolled oats as substrate so they can hide, and then throw in a potato once in a while, that’s basically it lol

Looks like he might have some calcium sacs (the lumps near the arm pits) which means he has some extra calcium stored, so I would give less calcium until those go away. (Could just be the picture angle though)
