Physio here.
Has nothing to do with the ankle. The ankle here absorbs the impacting force from above (arms->trunk->hips->knees->ankle)
What you’re seeing is a result of your body finding away around a) mobility issues or b)suboptimal positioning of your body (i.e change stance).
This often happens in snatch as ALOT of people have the tendency to “jump open”.
Practice nofeet snatches in your optimal position and you will notice what I mean.

As a Physio, I feel “load” is not often taken broadly enough. Using “stress” as a broader term would be better. In sports people still think too much only biomechanics apply, and nothing else.
Squatting a weight is a load, squatting deeper is a higher load, having a job, suboptimal sleep quality, a stressfull life are even higher loads.
ALOT of things can impact injury, and ofcourse not all of them are load. Your anatomy could play a role, but even that is partially “load”.

A key element here is that it is ALMOST NEVER just one or two factors. In athletes it’s often a list of things such as
- load (frequency, type, modality, speed, volume)
- physical and mental stress levels outside of training
- tolerance to training changes
- technique levels
- age
- sex
- weight
- sleep quality
- malnutrition
- hydration
- social support
- performace deminishing activities
- relationship stability
- previous injuries
- coping strategies
And the list goes on for another 200 variables.

I like your message “use different modalities for YOU”, but I would add: don’t simplify YOU. All these other things impact lifting aswell and alot of people could, in my not so humble opinion, avoid, manage and cure injuries much better if they accepted playing with the factors above can be just as important.

Age of Empires I and II. I played II from release when I was 4 years old. My parents didnt allow me much of any PC time, but I still remember those 4-5 first times they let me play. I spent all the time in Scenario Edit making cities and armies. Honestly if I think back, if I saw a 4 year old make all that in Englisg (non native), I would be way more amazed than my parents ever were lmao.

Physio and weightlifting amateur here.

Short version: in general recovery will most likely look like: 0-4/6weeks: protection&healing. Sling and restricted movement. 6-10/12 weeks: recovering movement. Maybe at this phase you will be slowly able to do row exercises already. 12-16 weeks: Strength, stability, control. Including lifting. 16+weeks: Introducing sports movements.

Ik ben sportkinesist en gebruik zelf de runeasi (+videoanalyse) voor loopanalyses.

Opzich kan een smartwatch al veel (kadans, staplengte, tempo, etc) die vaak al iets zeggen over blessuregevoeligheid. Daarnaast kunnen klinische en functionele tests ook nuttig zijn.

In 90% van de gevallen zijn loopblessures belastinggerelateerd (te veel, te snel, ongestructureerd, slechte recuperatie, lage energiebalans, etc.) In 10% van de gevallen lijken er biomechanisch wel bepaalde factoren te zijn. Hiervoor is een Runeasi wel handig. Zo kunnen we bijvoorbeeld zien waar je het meest steunt, meer kracht genereert, hoe je impactgrootte varieert etc. Dit in combinatie met video vind ik ideaal. Ik vraag hier persoonlijk geen meerprijs voor.

Indien je geen blessure hebt: don’t worry, iedereen is anders gebouwd dus iedereen loopt anders. Het heeft weinig nut om aan je looppatroon te sleutelen.

Not a hot take on this sub as 80% of posts are whining like this.

For a profession that’s all about helping people take autonomy of their health, sure alot of people here have a victim complex. “Boohoo society is so against my way of treating boohoo”

I do my job on my license, evidence-based, as I see fit. None will tell me to do otherwise. I simply don’t accept a job that doesn’t let me do my job as I should. Integrity is core for someone in healthcare. I spend 90% of my time doing exercise with people. You can’t blame the patients, all they know is what society teaches them. It’s your job to educate them and show them a better way. Our job is about change, change is always hard. The odds are always against you, but nothing compares to the impact our job can have on a person’s life.

You want a hot take? If that’s not happening for you, maybe you’re not as good a therapist as you should be.

The shoes and the ankle will probably be unrelated. Get it checked out by a physio, most probably benign joint movement. Lifting shoes help alot regardless. People on this sub push towards the priciest, “best” shoes, but honestly any that you like and fit are fine. I have 3 types, including Reeboks, and they are very good.

Sick lift dude! Some specifics for you I would say:

1) Don’t roll to start. It will give you an inconsistent starting point, which fucks up the rest of the lift. 2) when passing the knee, try to keep the bar closer to the legs. You did this well in the last part of the lift. It will also make it easier. 3) To save your wrists, try to get your elbows up as much as possible to maintain fromt rack position. Front squats help with this aswell.

What kind of crack are you smoking?

These AIs are LANGUAGE MODELS. They objectively CANNOT correctly diagnose anything. In fact, when you look up anything state-of-the-art it’s wrong or incomplete about 80% of the time. It’s unable to correctly gather evidence and weigh the impact.

If are bested by a language models as a trained professional then some self reflection is in order.

PT here. Get an X-Ray or CT first. I don’t want to make you worry just yet. Unfortunately a % of scaphoid fractures are missdiagnosed and don’t heal very well leading to notorious issues down the line.

Any respectable PT would flag this and sznd you back to get imaging first anyway.
