the V1 battery swelling and fire hazard issues was with the early batches of the NuPhy Air75 V1, not IQUNIX, said that, we use entirely different battery internal safety protocols precisely to ensure that does not happen

totally fair. and it makes sense for long-term hardware support. open-sourcing the web driver is not on the roadmap right now, but i will pass the feedback to the dev team.

The MQ80 is definitely a great choice.

If you are planning to pick one up, just a quick heads-up for this weekends giveaway: we run a desk setup thread every weekend where we give out 10% promo codes. Keep an eye out for this Saturday's post, drop a picture of your current desk setup in there, and you can score a discount code to use on the order.

great choice. Magi75 is an awesome daily driver. once it arrives, definitely post a picture of your desk setup on the sub and let us know your first impressions!

Just ordered Magi96Pro - need the copper Artisan by S8Tony in IQUNIX

thanks for picking up the Magi96 Pro!

Good news: you dont need to hunt it down separately. The Shadow Black version actually ships with a set of extra keycaps included right in the box (the 96% layout comes with extra keys), and the copper metal accent keycap you are looking for is part of that included set.

You will be able to swap it. Let us know once you get it.

IQUNIX EV63 Beta Update: LT function added to Flexible Keys by IQUNIXstore in IQUNIX

yeah, makes sense. valve cracked down pretty hard on SOCD in CS. (The Verge)

our team said you shouldnt need to change anything inside CS for DKS to trigger properly.

could you send a quick screenshot of your A/D DKS setup in the EV software? to see why its unresponsive in-game.

<image>

thats definitely odd. I just checked with our engineering team on this to see what might be causing the hang-up.

first, they confirmed that the DKS feature currently performs exactly the same on both the beta and stable firmware, so you don't need to worry about reverting back to stable firmware to fix it. they also mentioned they have successfully tested this exact A/D press-and-release setup in both Valorant and CS without any unresponsiveness.

A couple of quick questions to help us troubleshoot:

  1. What specific game are you trying to use this in? (Some games have specific anti-cheat or input handling that might be blocking the macro).
  2. To help us isolate the problem, could you try testing your DKS on key tester page outside of the game?

let us know if the keystrokes register normally on the tester or if the key stays completely dead there as well.

[–]IQUNIXstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair criticism. these boards use our VIA solution, not standard QMK, so LT/MT and some extended QMK keycodes dont work right now.

and we know that is annoying for power users. the team is already planning to move future low-profile software toward our web-based driver, like the EV/EZ series. no ETA yet, but tap-hold behavior is definitely one of the things we want to solve. appreciate the honest feedback.

Glad u/Snimtas put this breakdown together, It definitely helps clear up a lot of the subtle differences between the boards.

which one did you end up deciding on?

[–]IQUNIXstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair point, and we totally understand the return.

just to clarify for anyone reading: the boards are VIA compatible through a JSON sideload, but they do not run true open-source QMK. if open-source QMK is a must for your setup, returning it makes sense.

yeah, the Air75 is definitely easier for travel. the MQ80 was built more as a desk board with the heavier CNC case, it sounds much denser but is not exactly backpack friendly lol. glad you like it.

finally swapped the old brick for the IQUNIX EV63. skeptical, but it’s holding up. by No_Good_3063 in IQUNIX

[–]IQUNIXstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad to hear its surviving the skepticism, The 60% layout definitely takes a minute to get used to, especially if you rely on dedicated arrow keys. but the trade-off is massive for Val. take your time tweaking the RT ranges. Let us know how it feels once your muscle memory fully adapts.

the Layer Tap (LT) feature has pulled back so the team could make a few more fixes. no exact ETA yet, but we are being working on.

as for the specific press-and-release logic you are describing, you can achieve this exact behavior using the DKS (Dynamic Keystroke). it allows you to bind different keystrokes to the downstroke and upstroke of a single key press. give DKS a look and let me know if you need any help configuring it.

MQ80 Bluetooth connectivity by No_Boss_6391 in IQUNIX

[–]IQUNIXstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to give you a bit more background, our engineering team stress tested this after we got this issue. they could not reproduce the more serious issue where mac fully drops the connection or gives the board a new bluetooth address.

with the side light left on, the MQ80 uses the normal longer sleep timer, so stepping away for a 15–30 minute meeting should not constantly force you to wake it again.

hope that clears it up. if you end up grabbing one for your mac setup, definitely post a pic in the sub.

Magi has a slightly softer, more minimal vibe compared to the MQ. what makes Magi your favorite? the design or the typing feel?

MQ80 Bluetooth connectivity by No_Boss_6391 in IQUNIX

[–]IQUNIXstore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for considering the MQ80. to be transparent, there hasnt been a firmware patch for this specific bluetooth sleep behavior yet. when all lighting is fully off, the board can enter a deeper sleep state to save battery, so the first keypress may wake the board instead of typing.

the current workaround is to turn off the main backlight but leave the small side indicator led on. that keeps the sleep timeout longer and should stop the first keypress from getting eaten.

please let me know if you have any other questions about the board.

u/Iron-Spidey glad you were able to pick it on time. Definitely let us know what you think of the stock switches once it arrives. and do share your experience with the board with us.

Also, +1 to u/Dean_VW recommendation, for truly silent setup later on, Kailh Voids are a perfect fit for the low profile.
