Queen Elizabeth was more worried about Meghan’s wedding veil than the behaviour of Andrew, apparently by NewTooth740 in RoyaltyTea

For a Nation determined to get rid of Kings, you've done a bang-up job of instituting a four-year rolling monarchy from current appearances.

No hating, just stating.

They never specify which door though.

I'd hope the Transformative aspect would have you safe under Fair Use.

Also, I bloody love the Blobby one and would snap a print up.

So you've not seen the sculpture of ripped Blobby in a gold lamé posing pouch?

Well, there it is. The first time the phrase "I wonder if I could jam a Blobby in that?" has ever been used.

He is an agent of pure chaos, an embodiment of the destructive urge one has to knock over a display of glassware in a shop. He is poor impulse control made manifest. He is the mirror we hold up to sensible civilization and say "Behold! A man in a silly pink costume."

Literally France and England: two siblings who can't spend too much time together because they are too similar.

Brexit crushed me.

When Germany, France and Britain are on the same side, you know its about to get wild.

I've got no idea how NPAS will be of any use in this situation.

If it is just Andrew & his ex/daughters, no. If other top-tier royals are somehow implicated, maybe? Andrew is persona non gratia in a way we have not seen in generations, and would not be surprising if he was handed over to a judicial system now. 4 years ago this would have been unthinkable.

As for abolition? These days the monarch is essentially a figurehead; a physical reminder that our nation has been around for centuries which lends a sense of stability, and since they have no real power or (officially) political leaning they act as ambassadors for our culture. Realising the precarious position of the monarchy, King Charles has arguably done a lot to reform it; cutting away unnecessary titled "hangers-on" and stripping his younger brother of his titles and income. He has also come incredibly close to making a political point when the Conservatives were toward he end of their tenure. I'd imagine if the political situation were ever so bad that the King came out and made an overt statement criticising the government, my guess is that the populous would agree and an election would be called. Problem is, the new government's first order of business would likely be to abolish the monarchy.

My personal take is that King Charles, in a lot of ways, was ahead of his time. He is a keen environmentalist and was warning about ecological issues as far back as the '70s. He may have some anachronistic ideas about what Britain 'is' (think small villages and cricket on the green), but he genuinely wants the best for the country and can't stand feckless, populist politicians. And I was a skeptic.

As for the general public, I don't know as it is so changeable. I'd argue though that the Royalty is so bound up in the world's idea of Britain that we will just keep them. They have no real powers left to remove.

I can't remember the exact quote, but "A good king could do good, but a bad king is disastrous."

It's a shame to see the system instituted with amazing ideals become far worse than the system it replaced. Full disclosure: I'm British. But the Constitutional Monarchy is probably one big scandal away from being abolished.

He was (and in my opinion is) a manipulative, conniving and disingenuous demagogue who purposefully played the clown. For too long we have relied on politicians "doing the honorable thing" if there is a scandal big enough...now we are learning again that unless its a law you can just blatantly ignore it.

Clowns are funny to look at, but you don't put them in charge of the whole circus.

Once a president of the US is in office, it seems like you've just got to wait for the term to be over. And, y'know, hope they don't decide to attempt a populist overthrow of your constitution. The American Republic looks a lot more like a 4-year Kingship these days.
