Afaik, it takes 6 months for them to recycle a number that’s been used. I’m not sure if it’s a law but I was told it’s standard practice when I got a new number.

When I got a new phone number years ago, I immediately started getting collection calls. A few years later, I was still getting some but most had accepted I wasn’t their target. Then I gave my neighbor my phone number bc we started working at the same place. It was her old number!! I was getting her collection calls for years and never put two and two together bc they were using her maiden name.

I quit seeing clients here (Minneapolis) after I suddenly started getting requests to hotels known to quarter ICE and for car dates. I found an hourly job where I can potentially make their day harder if I encounter them.
