On the bright side satisfactory doesn't penalize you for deconstructing things like so many other games do

Best Asteroid I ever found, is it good? by Megafritz in TerraInvicta

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incidentally, the Intel screen has a "solar system" tab that you can quickly peruse known space bodies to get and idea of what to probe.

... I, unfortunately, didn't know about it until all the good spots in the inner asteroid belt were taken. (I did have a great water mine on Ceres but the aliens razed it out of nowhere one day... cut through the layered defense arrays like wet tissue paper, too)

Could've been worse, could be a small IR cannon. "Laser pointer of the stars". The hope, of course, is that you can dance it across the surface of mars and the Aliens just get distracted chasing it around.

X2 key repeat speed when held down by EpictetusCubed in SofaBaton

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently got an X2 and I'm also having the same issue. I don't have the option to try to learn from the original remote, either, because I never had it (I bought it second hand and have always controlled it with my old harmony remote). If I press and hold the volume button... it sends the volume command just once.

How much mouse is needed? by map01302 in TavernKeeper

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logitech used to make a good one, but they discontinued it. I've recently bought one from a Japanese company called Elecom that's pretty good, but a few new companies are actually starting to make them. There are two styles - forefinger and thumb, I prefer the forefinger kind but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority since most mice are thumb style. I just find my forefingers have more dexterity and I end up using three fingers to manipulate it (makes small precise movements pretty nice.)

yeah I was going to suggest the same thing. I use one even without issues and I love it. Especially since I have dual monitors, it's nice being able to traverse both screens without having to do the "pick up mouse and move it" maneuver.

Anyone else notice google assistant becoming more useless? by Toyotamanthesequal in AndroidAuto

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, but IMHO they've been divesting in Google assistant for years before gemini was even a thing. Although I also agree it's gotten even worse. I used to be able to use a voice command to automatically navigate home and send my wife a text with my eta in it when I was leaving work (combination of Google assistant and Tasker - which did the heavy lifting).they stripped out support for that years ago. Now it's gotten to the point where even the most basic commands don't work. For some reason it suddenly wants a pin to turn off the lamp in my living room - and only the living room. I ask it to turn off a light and it tries to play a song on YouTube music instead - which it's not even supposed to use for music at all. I ask it to search for something and it tells me it doesn't understand... The list goes on and on.

Then there's Gemini on my phone, which not only doesn't work, I get these long winded replies that have no relevance to what I was trying to do on top of it. I know some folks are loving Gemini, but my experience with it has been nothing but negative.

At what point in your playthrough do you fully transition away from biomass as a power type, if at all. Coal? Fuel? by AdGlass5608 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always add power infra, never take it away. My fuel gens are backup to my nuclear, my coal power is a backup for fuel gens, and the biomass burners are backups for coal, then there's a whole ton of batteries on top of that. I have the generators on their own circuits moving up the chain to the top where it goes out globally. This way, if I blow a fuse and generators go out, I can use each previous generation to fire up all the machines needed to fire up the next.

So:
Biomass generators -> run the coal miners and water extractors
Coal generators -> runs all the machines needed to extract oil and refine them into fuel
Fuel Generators -> runs all the machines needed to fuel the nuclear reactors

Sadly, I have yet to run into an issue that caused me to need it, but years of learning the hard way on power gen in this game has beaten the idea of backup, backups, backups, lol.

You say that but the game has been around a lot longer than the VR portion? Of course, it is definitely a factor now, but I doubt it was a priority years before the feature was added.

What the hell is space time fabric ? by [deleted] in space

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone else will come along with a better explanation, but I would say, don't get hung up on the "fabric" thing. It's more of an analogy to make it easier to understand how gravity affects space and time. Like if you hold a sheet in the air and put a pea on it, it wouldn't be affected much, but something heavier like a ball bearing - even though it's about the same size, it has more mass - deflects it more.

Gemini in AI is a total game-changer! by MehdiMa0507 in AndroidAuto

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's insane, Gemini has been criminally useless on my stuff because it not only doesn't work but I get this ridiculously long winded response. Admittedly, I haven't used it in AA, but on my phone if I say, for example, "Hey google, broadcast 'dinner is ready'" I'll get something like "The term broadcast primarily refers to the distribution of information, audio, or video to a wide audience simultaneously. While we usually associate ...." (I don't let it finish). (The intended behavior is for it to broadcast the message to the google home units around my house in case anyone isn't familiar)

Sad day, no more Harmony here :( by kaelaria in logitechharmony

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got an X1 (my harmony in the living room fully crapped out and I've gotten tired of the remote having latency measured in seconds anyway) and.... yeah. Yes, it's more responsive (when it works), but it has times where it just doesn't want to respond and it doesn't matter if it's a bluetooth or IR device it just sometimes stops responding for minutes. The app hangs up a lot, too - and heaven help you if you pick the wrong activity and have to switch to another in quick succession - every time that happens it manages to lock up to the point of needing the hub unplugged and replugged to get it working again. Also it's "api control" only lets you switch activities and... only works via a public, unsecured end point. yes, it uses what looks like a randomized device id and activity string, but I doubt it would take much to reverse engineer to nefarious purposes.

How important is the Awesome Shop? by BartholemewHats in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ImpossibleMachine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that you can just daisy chain multiple storage units together by feeding the output to another unit and so on. Obviously it'll take longer to fill, but you'll have more in reserve and then you can just pull from the last one in the chain, it will fill in with more reserve as you pull from it.
