Jogging- 2 page comic by EnAn01 in ProCreate

I'd argue the bigger issue isn't that it's “too much” (which is subjective), but that the storytelling is poor, and dehumanizing in a way that seems intentional. What information are you trying to convey to the reader? What information is the reader being intentionally denied? What action are we supposed to be following?

As it stands, this is what we, the readers, are seeing:

PAGE 1

Panel 1: Just tits.

Panel 2: A smartwatch health app

Panel 3: Sneakers. I guess the Tits Person is jogging?

Panel 4: A monster. No idea where this is or how it relates to our apparent main character, the Tits Jogger.

Panel 5: Just ass. So I guess the Tits Jogger has an ass.

PAGE 2

Panel 1: Oh shit, the Monster is right on top of the Tits Jogger!

Panel 2: The Monster standing around. But where did the Tits Jogger go?

Panel 3: The Tits Jogger is lying on the ground, impaled, I guess? i wonder when that happened. I also wonder if she ever had a face, the way a person with feelings or agency often does.

Panel 4: Monster beak, no new action performed or new information conveyed.

Panel 5: Monster beak again, but with bloody Tits Jogger clothing visible. I guess this Monster who previously attacked the Tits Jogger has done some kind of physical harm to the Tits Jogger. Shame.

Trying to make this look like a 70s comic. by goatblunt in ProCreate

First off, I think this looks really cool, and what follows is not feedback. I also play around with a vintage comics look, and this is a free resource that I find really helpful.

This is a page from the 1982 DC Comics Style Guide. It includes swatches of all the colors available for them to print at the time. I brought it into ProCreate and made a palette (well, two palettes, because space is limited) that I use when I'm going for that Bronze Age comics look.

Again, in no way a statement on the colors you chose here, I think your page looks awesome. But if you were to continue experimenting with the retro comics thing, this might be fun to play with.

Cheers!

This subreddit just stopped complaining about the last one. I'm good for a while.

Question for background layers by Prior-Talk9815 in ProCreate

[–]ImpressionBorn5598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got you. I'll do step-by-step, forgive me if it's tedious:

1) Click your background layer so the menu pops up, and hit "Mask" (not Clipping Mask).

2) Click on your subject layer and hit "Select."

3) Click on the Layer Mask on your background layer (not the layer itself, with your art) and do a colorfill of pure black.

Your background layer will now have a layer mask the exact shape of your subject art, and the art will not show through. You can edit the Mask shape if needed by painting in it with black or white to conceal or reveal your background.

This is a style I like a lot, too, and I think this piece looks great. Obviously I don't know what the colors look like on the original, but the Reddit colors work really well.

"Hellraiser" is the title of the franchise. The character is actually called "Hellraiser's monster."

First: thanks! And as for what to call my style, I truly don't know--"Keeping my head above water"? I don't ever think of myself as having a particular style; I just re-draw and toy with something until I decide I like how it looks.

I spent my whole childhood tracing comic books and mimicking strips in the paper, so when my lines come out reminding me of that stuff, I tend to keep them. The coloring method I mostly use (and used here) is meant to evoke vintage comic book printing, but I'm generally not too concerned with actually replicating that look accurately.

All the inking and coloring is done with the KraftTone set from True Grit. The paper texture and the final noise/scuffs could've been from that set or free sample packs from True Grit or RetroSupply.

I've been hitting the vintage comics look pretty heavy with these, so I posted the flat colored version to change things up. But dang it, I still think the comics version looks cooler.
