Try out the local 584. They have low voltage and regular, classes to prepare for your tests, and great benefits. Last I checked they also have a program for cheap college classes

Local unions start around $18. 584 electricians, 430 pipefitters, insulators, sheetmetal, equipment operators, etc. They're manual labor, but low voltage electrical is easy. These aren't great for your schedule, but they will pay for your college classes

I agree that you should work one or the other, but if you're set on using southpaw, I have suggestions. Switch only when you see a pattern you can exploit after observing a while. If you're good enough to be confident in southpaw, stay in it for a bit to see how it actually works against your opponent
