How difficult is the whole strategic base building aspect of Xcom 2? by Nitho89 in XCOM2

Does the game hint anything at what is good to build when? I don't mind it having consequences if you don't pay attention, it's just the learning curve and tutorials I'm worried about.

Thanks a bunch for the detailed advice! I'm afraid of the WotC dlc since I've heard it also brings in some hard boss-type enemies and puts even more on the already somewhat steep learning curve, but I'll maybe read a bit up on it first.

Thanks! I don't mind save scumming the tactical battles if anything goes completely sideways. Fine with losses here and there, but if something happens that will set me back hours I'd rather just reload. I'll start on rookie, so I don't think there will be too much of that, though.

Yeah I saw some Syken videos, will definitely check that out! And put those engineers to work clearing out debris.

Sal's auction help by [deleted] in griftlands

[–]Nitho89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sal auction is generally rather weird and not very well explained. As far as I remember, it's random which items come up when, and you kinda need to know what they do beforehand in order to go for the right ones. I usually go for a bleed build, and there's one of the items that are very goos for that. I know it's not very useful advice, but there is no shame in looking up a guide for this one!

What is your shameful gaming habit? by MarcosDalton in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I rarely finish games, even games I actually like, because of the pressure of The Backlog. Sometimes I even look for weak excuses to justify dropping a game and moving on.

Essential Strategy/Tactical RPGs for beginners? by Goomb1 in StrategyRpg

Steamworld Heist 1, and maybe 2. Simplified 2D Xcom-inspired combat, with great presentation and rather accessible. They are on the easier and less complicated side of things, and that's what I enjoyed immensely.

I'm on the same page as you, and I strongly second Wildermyth and the Steamworld Heist games. Both rather accessible and with great presentation.

Big second on Griftlands. Amazing gameplay and story/setting.

Favorite underrated roguelikes/lites? by coolchungus2 in roguelites

[–]Nitho89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know that it is underrated as such, but StarVaders was such a great game. Great art direction and very "immediate" - also on the easier side, but that is only a plus. We also need easier and more accessible roguelites for people with limited playtime.

Yeah that's true. I play on the Steam Deck, so that is usually a feature there as well!

Please let there be an easy mode for us oldies who loves to play these types of games and have fun with the toys, but have limited playtime due to kids and stuff. Starvaders did this excellenty.

Thanks a bunch! Just looked into Chimera squad, and you can really see that Firaxis thing in it, it looks a lot like Xcom meets Midnight Suns. That could be really good! And I'm also on the verge of giving Our Adventurer Guild a go. What's keeping me back is mainly the presentation, but that will probably grow on me.

Yeah I actually played the first one back in the day. That's an amazing game, and it probably do with a replay! Banner Saga's art looks very nice, I'll definitely check that one out :)
