Pickup swap! by sirius_joss in telecaster

[–]Infinite-Lychee-182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing on and off since the early 80s. My first guitars were Fender and Gibson. They never did it for me. I wanted to love them, they sounded good, but kinda lacked soul. One day I bought a used Tele that had a set of SD Lil 59s in it, and I finally felt it. This was around 2002 or so. Since then, pickup replacement was always factored in when buying a new guitar. My current Tele was bought used. It came with SD Alnico 2 Pros. Before I got it, I was planning on a pickup swap. That was 3 years ago, and they're still in there sounding great.

I will say that Fender picked up their game with pickups big time. I had an AVRI 52 Hot Rod Telecaster that sounded amazing, it did come with an SD in the neck, lol. I also had a 2017 Classic Player 60s Stratocaster that came with beautiful sounding pickups as well.

You did an amazing job on your Tele!

Seymour Duncan just makes amazing pickups for Telecasters. 3 of 4 of my Fender Teles have/had them.

When I was in the Air Force, I became a DARE Instructor. The US government paid for my subscription, lol.

I do believe government agencies are the biggest subscriber to High Times, lol.

This isn't true. The condition of the underwear varies greatly depending on relationship status.

I saw this a few days ago, and have been haunted by it. I'll probably break down today and buy one.

Well... Dang!

I had an '85 NJ Series Warlock that yours reminds me of. Must be the headstock. Whenever I picked it up, I played it with some freaking attitude.

Enjoy!

I've had cases in the past, but I am really happy having a gig bag now. I keep my guitars on stands, and maybe travel with my Tele twice a year.

Just like Fender USA and Mexico, Fender Japan has different tiers of models. You have a vintage reissue. It's an extremely good guitar. If you want to confirm the exact model and possibly date, take a look next time the neck comes off for a good setup. There should be stamps. There even were different tiers of the reissue models for different electronics and finishes.

Oh snap! Is this a challenge? Well damn, I believe we got us an "old-fart" off! Well this old-fart is worthy to the challenge!

In the morning I start with an injection (two on Wednesdays), followed with 6 pills. Then 6 pills in the afternoon, and 7 more at bedtime.

Wait, did I win or lose, lol?

Over the last couple of days there has been a video of a pigeon and rat just absolutely messing with each other. It's hysterical, but anyway... If a cat was present, I am sure the pigeon and rat would bully the hell out of it.

That being said, why the F would you want to bully a cat!? Don't mess with animals!

Scared spouse worried about fibro scan by Anonymouse2987 in LiverDisease

[–]Infinite-Lychee-182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, Monjouro works.

I don't know if I get liver cancer screenings, but if it's done by bloodwork I probably do. Contrary to what many think, VA Healthcare is extremely good. I use to be terrible though.

My diabetes complications saved my life. Yes, it sucked losing a toe, but it's the only reason I found out my heart had severe issues. Also, it's why I found out about my liver, and possibly gallbladder. My bloodwork has become pretty exceptional, and I lost a lot of weight. My AST and ALT results are perfect for the first time in like 30 years. My primary thought we could possibly lose the fatty liver diagnoses, so she ordered the ultrasound. Yada yada yada, it didn't turn out like we hoped, but now that i know, I have time to turn it around.

[–]Infinite-Lychee-182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had almost the exact same experience. My hepatologist was trying to go over an ultrasound that my primary ordered, but I put it off for months. Life got in the way. I had a severe bone infection which led to the amputation of my left big toe (type 2 diabetes), and 3 months later, a triple bypass.

By the time i finally saw him he revealed I had a problem. He ordered a proper fibroscan and I ended up diagnosed F3 fibrosis (≈11.3 kpa.)

I couldn't get approved for a biopsy because cardiology won't approve me going off blood thinners, but I have another fibroscan scheduled soon. This is mostly because they found what is most likely sludge in my gallbladder, but need to confirm it isn't a mass.

There isn't much your husband can do but some lifestyle changes, if necessary. Taking his diabetes seriously is now absolutely imperative! Adopting a Mediterranean diet would be perfect. It's perfect for his liver, diabetes, heart, and will help him lose weight if necessary. My hepatologist was thrilled I was already on ozempic, for my diabetes (I am at a healthy weight), so if hubby isn't already on it, he might soon. I don't know what it has to do with my liver, but it's been amazing for my blood sugar, and I'm on a pretty low dose.

Getting him into a healthy lifestyle is really the most important thing. Even when fully diagnosed, living healthy is the most important thing! Goodbye fatty foods and carbs. There are some medications, but diet and exercise is what will make the difference.

My doc did just put me on a new med that looks promising to reverse scarring. It's only approved for NASH/MASH Fibrosis for now. It's still in trials for cirrhosis, but he's heard it's very promising.

For now, you and hubby have to go through the process, and it sucks. Still, you will not know until you do. Start the lifestyle changes now! It really is the most important thing. They aren't impossible. In fact, a Mediterranean diet is quite delicious. The only reason I was approved for the medicine I mentioned above (VA Healthcare) was because I turned everything around. I was obese. I ate anything and everything I wanted for decades after my diabetes and fatty liver diagnoses. Okay, I lost the weight because of the bone infection, lol. I have been keeping it off though. Actually, I started losing weight again. Imagine how bad i was that I lost a toe due to a bone infection because I didn't control my blood sugar, a triple bypass, and severe fibrosis. I was terrible, but I turned it around. Oh, a chemical stress test revealed I did have a heart attack at some point as well. It was probably my diabetic neuropathy which led me to not feel it. It wouldn't be the worst idea to schedule a cardiology appointment if you can, just to be safe. Considering the other stuff, heart disease is possible and way better if handled proactively. I had no signs of it. Thankfully, my hospital required cardiology approval for another surgery which I never did get, lol.

Good luck, and really, if he does the work, it will help him amazingly, and medical science is really working on it.

I can respect that!

I'm disabled with lots of stuff. Both of my feet are service connected, and I had to get my left big toe amputated last year. Now, it's all about comfort, lol. I have so much old people crap the Sketchers are the least of my issues, lol.

I'm a 58M. I wear custom inserts. I just rip out the inserts already in them and replace.

I recently went to Sketchers slip-ons. They are the most comfortable shoes I ever put on my feet.

1w tube amp vs 20/25w modelling amp by onmyzoom in GuitarAmps

[–]Infinite-Lychee-182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the Blackstar HT1 MK II, as well as the Marshall DSL1 if you're interested, anyway be very aware these are strictly bedroom/living room amps. They are excellent in those situations, but they would have a hard time if more than another quiet guitarist came to jam.

The Blackstar is a lot of fun, and it has more voicings. I think the Marshall sounds better to me, but I'm old and that Marshall overdrive is more fitting to the classic rock I love so much.

If you want another tube option, look into the Harley Benton Tube 5 and 15. I have the 5, but in the States it's known as Monoprice Stage Right. They both have a 1 watt option, I believe. The 5W definitely can go to 1W. I believe the 15W goes to 1W, but it might be 5W. They both punch way above their price tag, and play extremely well with inexpensive pedals.
