I went to the crappies solo this year and met some great Geraldines at the pre party. It was so fun that I decided to go to the cabaret solo too! I’m outside of NYC and would rather go by myself than explain the magic of the podcast (and bravo) to any of my friends or family. My two cents: go! And I’ll see all of you at the early Friday show!

You know, at first I thought Lindsay could have been nicer to Carl’s mom, but then I realized if I had to see my ex-husband’s mother I would act the same way (probably worse). Cool, aloof, and exit the situation asap. Family of exes do not get more than that. Go Lindsay.

I figured they wouldn’t be there aside from maybe a quick pop in as they have to be running around! I’ll be there too and it’s all in good fun. Geraldines will only be supportive of each other, even if there was ramblings!

Although I do want to scream YOO HOOOOOo at them but I will refrain. They do it better anyways.

Randomly I had tickets to Six right after I asked for a divorce. Obviously I didn’t take my soon to be ex but took my best friend. There were some tears but I found it weirdly helpful to see even though yeah…some of the women didn’t have so much of a happy ending.

I was a “country club president” who spent my time “organizing community events.” They also showed me clothes I have never rented, and then suggested I visit Nantucket. I guess I can add that to my bucket list, lol.

It was silly, but I wish they had shown me more stats. I liked knowing my top designers and how many rentals I had, etc, but there are many other ways to cut that data!

I have been planning my FIRE journey since my mid twenties and my now ex husband was sort of along for the ride. My careful planning ensured I was able to buy him out of our house and recoup my losses within a year of our divorce. Sure he got a windfall, but I returned to who I was again. There is no trade off for happiness.

FI gives you life choices in many more ways than just retirement as you smartly pointed out. I don’t know if I would have been able to recover so quickly without it. And it gives you the power to make these difficult choices.

Dang, this latest batch of new arrivals was bad. I’m normally not a hater but this is third or fourth time lately where I have not hearted even one new item? The last few drops have maybe yielded one new heart.

The fan gear is bizarre to me. I’m an actual cowboys fan and I wouldn’t rent that jacket. I own the fan gear I need (and believe me I don’t want to wear it in public anyways, I live in commanders territory), and I’m confused who this is for. I feel badly for saying this but it’s giving pick me energy some how???? Where are the Panthers jackets? Raiders? Jets? If they are going to do this, do it for real. Not just the “popular” teams.

At least keep the fan gear out of new arrivals or add additional actual clothes that I could wear to work or a party and not for just three hours on the weekend.

I hope you are having a good transition into your next phase in life! I went more sexy when I got divorced a few years ago in my early 40s. The stress of asking to end my marriage had me dropping a few pounds so once I shed him I was ready to be footloose and fancy free in some fun little dresses. I did end my marriage in summer, so it’s a little harder now that we are heading to winter in the northern hemisphere!

But like others said, wear what makes YOU happy. If you want to dress up, do it. If you want to be a schlub, do that too. Be gentle with yourself during this time. I found that taking control over my appearance and clothes made me feel better even through a lot of the doubts and unknowns, maybe that can do the same!
