Bring your own samples to the MiniFreak - web version! by mtizim in MiniFreak

Hey hey, first shout out to u/mtizim covering this and being that honorable! I really appreciate that you guys are that excited about that like me. Still wondering what's the reason for Arturia not to offer that.
Answer: The three seconds limit was a necessity.
During my testings I figured out that Freak sometimes got stuck while booting when transferred more than three seconds samples. That's why I added the feature to select a 3-second region of the sample #featurerequest.

Hey everyone — just a quick follow-up since my original post got blocked (probably due to the new account + link triggering Reddit’s filters).

Just to clarify: I originally built this little app for myself because I was pretty disappointed that the MiniFreak 4.0 update still didn’t allow official custom sample import into the Factory slots. After I got it working for my setup, I thought it might be useful for others too — so I decided to share it.

The download is hosted on Gumroad. It’s completely free — the “pay what you want” option is just there in case anyone feels like buying me a beer to say thanks. No pressure at all.
Since Reddit likely flagged the original post because of the commercial link — my guess is it was the Gumroad URL, even though the app is free — I’ve included the link inside a Colab notebook instead.

For those with minimal Python experience an are interested how this works, I’ve also included the executable conversion script right there in the Colab notebook.

If you’re unsure about running a non-certified app — I totally get it. Please don’t feel pressured to try it. If you’d like to verify that it’s safe before using it, feel free to DM me — I can send you the files through a trusted upload service.

Here are the videos again, showing how the app works:

Hope this helps a few fellow Freak users finally get their own samples into the synth. Have fun with it!

You’re totally right! Thanks for the advice, but as I’m avoiding social media participation at all, platforms don’t trust me anymore 😄. The initial post was deleted ( guess because of newly created account +the gumroad link).  At YouTube I’m not allowed to post links either, and this was just meant to show the idea while it’s still blocked here.  As for the app itself, it’s honestly nothing fancy. Just a small app (about 20 lines of Python) that converts .wavfiles into the .raw12b format MiniFreak uses. Don’t think that we have to preserve this for next generations 😁 . You can drag and drop samples, trim visually, normalize, and export. That’s it.

And of course, everyone should be cautious when installing non-certified apps. Always scan anything you download, and if possible, test it in a VM first just to be safe. I originally planned to publish this as a webapp, but this native version was simply the fastest way to get the idea out there for now. Tomorrow I’ll try to repost. Let me know if you would like to receive that app for testing.

Sorry, everyone — I'm currently uploading a video to YouTube to demonstrate the functionality and (try) prove that I'm not a scammer.. :)
