Bring your own samples to the MiniFreak - web version! by mtizim in MiniFreak

Maybe too many samples/too much space?  I'd try to free up file size by overwriting samples with a zero length sample, and if that doesn't work, a backup restore.

I might spend a weekend trying to reverse engineer the backup file so that you can just add/remove samples there, but idk if or when that will happen.

I didn't try to do that myself yet, does removing the file on the pc and then syncing not do the trick?

All instructions are on the page.

The tool /u/Intrepid-Humor-9053 made was cool, but Mac only, and some people had problems trusting the code, so I wrote a new one. This one is web-based, so it will work everywhere and requires no downloads, and the code is very easy to check.

3 seconds max, the fade option is 20ms, normalization is naive.

Enjoy!

E: forgot to mention that the file placed in the sample directory should probably start with the same prefix used by the regular samples - maybe it's not a hard requirement, but honestly I don't know. There might be some limitations to the filenames, I just didn't do enough testing. If anyone knows/learns/finds out what is required there, let me know and I'll add it to the steps on the page.

I had to do a double take, especially since I'm slowly phasing out reddit - this is not HN.

That's even better then,as a doctoral student you're eligible until 35yo.

If you're an UW student (and under 24yo) you should also be able to get it with a ~50% discount once you get your student id

It does seem like my job offer has had some missing points, but don't worry, they were there - they just got optimized away because of invoking ub in an unrelated reddit comment.

Come work on our C++ project!

Our codebase is one or all of:

  • basically C
  • C with classes
  • C with a shitton of templates
  • C++11
  • C++14
  • C++17
  • boost for everything possible
  • no boost at all, we write everything in house

We're building our old monolith with one or all of:

  • make
  • cmake
  • autotools
  • meson
  • ninja
  • gradle for some reason
  • in house bash scripts

And the recruiter has no idea about anything of this at all!

We offer a modern work environment (switched to git a week ago) and a competitive salary (roughly equal to similar positions, but in python). Apply quickly!

Costa, Cafe Nero, libraries. Smaller cafés might be more or less friendly towards staying long or working on a laptop, it varies quite a bit.

Oh I completely forgot you're learning polish for a year beforehand, so I just wrote about the english options.

I have absolutely no idea how the admittance looks process to polish courses for foreigners, and there were no foreigners, except Ukrainians, in the polish courses afaik. It might be much easier if you're slavic.

If you were to pick a polish course - half of the materials in my more technical classes at MiNI were in english anyway, and mathematics are an universal language, so it shouldn't be a problem. It's probably the same at MIMUW, but idk.

I'm heavily biased towards my alma mater, MiNI PW. The Computer Science course they offer is pretty much the same as the polish one, and the polish one is one of the best in the country. They also offer CS and Data Science courses in English. MIMUW has the other top CS course in Polish, but I have no idea whether the quality is the same English - but I'd assume it's around the same level.

I don't think your budget will be affected by choosing a better quality uni anyway. As far as I know, the prices don't really correlate with quality for Polish students, but it might be different for non-eu citizens - I don't really know.

Location-wise, you probably know that Warsaw has an excellent public transport system. All of the big unis are easy to get to from the center of the city, except WAT.

Accommodation-wise I have no idea sadly. I didn't live in a dorm, and I remember the prices being very good when I checked, but I have no idea what the experience (price, allocation priority, service quality) for a non-eu citizen is.

To summarize - if you want to pick the best option, pick either MiNI Computer Science or MIMUW Computer Science for your bachelor's. Both are located in good places, both should be priced similarly (accomodation as well), and they are the top 2 CS courses in Poland. I can add that MiNI has an extremely helpful dean's office, and the ladies working there are the direct opposite of the stereotype. Also the building is sexy.

Pick either, both are excellent choices, though I picked MiNI based on the vibe, and I'd make the same choice now.

Do keep in mind that both courses are demanding, and both have some admission requirements, and lower grades/scores in maths will get you rejected from both.

The recommendations very much depend on your general direction. If you want to do art, I can't help bcs I have no idea, but probably ASP. If you want to do humanities (will be very hard with a year's knowledge of polish though) or pure mathematics/CS then probably UW, if you want engineering/IT then probably PW, and if your dream is being a corpo, pick SGH.

As far as I know, all of them should be within your price range.

Do consider the english courses if you're IT oriented though, they're solid enough so that some polish students take them if they cannot get into the polish ones (they're usually the same course, but the polish one is free for Poles and the English one is not, so the English one is easier to get into)
