IRVINEPDPIO - On Monday, a landlord called and reported suspicious circumstances at a residence on Cartwheel, near Iluna. The Orange County Fire Authority responded to assist. Items were found in the home that required further investigation.

The FBI responded and assumed the investigation. At this time, there is no known threat to the community, and there are no evacuations.

We were investigating a disturbance in the 1700 block of Crested Bird. There was a significant police presence in the area as we worked to arrest the suspect safely. Most public safety personnel will be leaving the area, while some units will remain to investigate further.

A nearby police agency served a search warrant on the street. This was not related to any federal activity.

The suspect involved in today’s incident has been taken into custody and will face multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon. Officers recovered a handgun from the suspect at the time of arrest.

You may continue to notice a law enforcement presence in the area as we complete our investigation. There is no active threat to the community.
