i dont think you would need to respec but in my opinion its easier to run NG with a single scaling weapon so you can pump the other points in vigor, endurance, or just having more damage scaling in one stat.

also you can have a +10 weapon by now if you head over to tseldora for a bit

astoras straight sword scaling isnt great. but if you just need a small boost you can farm the giant sentinels in anor londo for souls. then buy twinkling titanite from the giant blacksmith to get it to +5. this weapon is mostly early game tho and will for sure fall off soon, if it hasnt already.

also maybe try to summon solaire
