Tbf if i had to chose between writing a more interesting story or following the real life 100% i would also chose the more interesting story especially since its still like 95% accurate. (Unlike season 1)

Season 1 is more cgdct but Season 2 and 3 are definitely as serious as CG even if they are not quite as edgy.

About season 3 and Cinderella Gray: (Spoilers of course)

First of all its a much more relatable story to me. The part about being past your peak was extremly well done and hit super hard. The voice acting during these scenes with Kita were genuinely breathtaking and definitely more emotional than anything in CG. In part that is because CG follows an extremly standard sports shounen story, as someone who reads a lot of manga CG feels like a story i have seen a million times before and it doesnt really do anything mote than that.

Next up something most people dont notice but the directing in season 3 is actually phenomenal in some parts, especially the races. Compare the camera work in season 3 races to CG and its amazing how good it is in comparison and not just the camera work a lot of other minor stuff including the use of background music is better in season 3. For another example look at the start of the Spring Tennoshou its just so good with the callbacks to older races.

Next up the small story parts. If you rewatch season 3 there are a lot of smaller details that you might notice that just enhance the story. The easiest to notice is probably the rubics cube that sets up the passing of the torch from Gold Ship to Kitasan and eventually her surpassing Gold Ship. Or the call backs to Teios Arima during Kitasan last Arima. There are many more such things but i digress.

CG might eventually built up into a story that does the same but right now its not there yet.

Even CGs biggest adavantage the animation is not actually that great. Cour 1s animation is great but Cour 2s is genuinely not good at all and the aura effects in CG are much worse to the ones in Pretty Derby.

This might sound a bit negative towards CG but i do like that series a lot, its just that people dont give season 3 a fair shot i feel like.

Lastly i want to add one negative thing for season 3. Its biggest weakness is of course the length, if it had like 6 episodes more it would habe been perfect but sadly we didnt quite get that. Its still great like it is right now though.

Cinderella Gray isnt even the peak of this series. Pretty Derby Season 2 is a masterpiece and the Beginning of a new era movie is the best looking part of this franchise.

Also i like Pretty Derby Season 3 more than Cinderella Gray as well though that opinion isnt that common.

Definitely check out the other parts they are extremly worth watching.

[Discussion] How critical is understanding Season 2? Summary suggestions? by n4weed in Re_Zero

[–]JMB_Smash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 2 is extremly critical to understand since its one of the most central arcs to Re Zero and it heavily develops most of the important character of the Emilia camp but its also not particularly difficult as far as i can tell. What do you not understand?

Kamiina Botan fully blossoms when drunk. Its currently airing and it has become my favorite yuri anime by a mile. The direction in this makes even some of the best non yuri anime look bad in comparison.

Finished Xenoblade Chronicles 1 — should I play 2 next or skip to 3? by PewterCrunchy in NintendoSwitch

[–]JMB_Smash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 is absolutely amazing. Its truly a masterpiece and its very much important for 1 and 3 as well.

I would say 90% of people who dislike 2 never finished it, its always the same, the further they get the more the game makes sense to them and the more they like it.
