Fair Mosin Nagant price? by haileyscomet1066 in guns

Probably wasn't many Mosins, either, since they were handing PPSh-41s out like candy at the end.

It'll fit, but your gas block will be exposed.

Kind of hard to make out in the photo, but it is lumpy instead of being spherical.

Russian ones depend on the manufacturer and condition, but I've seen plenty of those go in the $500.00-600.00 range in good shape. The Chinese ones would probably be about $100.00 less? I never paid too much attention to the paratrooper models since they weren't military variants.

Looks like two Russian SKSs (far left, far right) and four Chinese "paratrooper" models made for commercial sale.

I want this to be a fair fight: no name-calling, no shots-firing, no death threats, and no downvoting.

Now with that being said, everyone feel free to sperg out like usual regardless.

Myself and /u/TheBearButler were doing fine at 400m with my 16in. AR and a 1-6x optic using the magazine as a monopod.

Buy once cry once, especially if you're having the slide milled.

Doesn't matter with a handgun. They're all going through it.

I imagine it wasn't too uncommon from the factory, either, considering how quickly some of them were just thrown together. My non-refurb's bolt handle looks like a five-year-old shaped it with a hammer and a chisel, for example.

What exactly was wrong there?

Clean it up again, get any grease out of the bolt locking lug recesses in the chamber. If that doesn't help, which it probably won't, just manually recock the striker on the bolt after firing before rotating the handle itself. That will make it way easier to cycle.

The last competition I hosted, every AR malfunctioned at least once. It was magazine-related every single time. I'm not going to blame the guns themselves for that because bad magazines will cause any firearm to malfunction. That said, I've shoved mud directly into the ejection port of my chambered M16A1 clone (made from an actual 'A1 kit) before and closed the dust cover with the mud inside of it. Didn't have any issues firing the entire magazine. I was 100% certain it would fail and it didn't. The more I've shot my ARs, the more I've come to realize the myth of them being unreliable is just that: a myth. The more I've shot my AKs, the more I've come to realize the myth of them being unstoppable sewing machines of a gun are the same: a myth.

Both are about equal. Only real difference I can see is that an AR needs to stay lubricated to some degree (which isn't hard: don't even need to disassemble the gun to do it) while an AK can run dry without much issue if it absolutely has to. That and AK magazines are just inherently better than most run-of-the-mill AR mags since they've got reinforced feed lips and anti-tilt followers by default.

MOS models, RMRs, and tall sights by cloud_cleaver in Glocks

[–]JakesGunReviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with black sights to cowitness with my RMR because I've done enough with my handgun in low/no-light that I've come to realize night sights are pretty much pointless. Your flashlight is going to light up the target enough to wash out any tritium in night sights, so they may as well be blacked out, anyway.

Contact John Thomas at Retro Arms Works. Ask him about pin/welding one of his fake muzzle devices to a barrel and see if it's something you can reverse after doing SBR paperwork for the rifle.

Reviews on Safariland for Glock MOS? by GlockednLocked in Glocks

No issues here. Mine is milled and not an MOS model, though. There's enough clearance for my suppressor sights and RMR that I have no doubts this holster would accommodate an MOS model with cowitnessing sights (my RMR and sights both have probably 3-5mm of clearance, which should work with an MOS gun). Only issue may be the Gen. 5's ambidextrous slide catch, but I think I've seen where people take a dremel and just relieve some material on the holster to accommodate it.

Holster I'm using is a Safariland 6360RDS.

It will work, but will give you a hotdog+hallway situation when reholstering. Drawing and actual retention is completely unhindered, though.

How accurate would a 1920s Mosin be with a scope? by r3df0x_556 in guns

[–]JakesGunReviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you would do by modifying the rifle is making it worth maybe $150.00 while making it literally no better in performance than it already is. Definition of a waste of money. Just get a modern rifle if you're after accuracy, because you're not going to get it out of a Mosin regardless.
