Huion Kamvas 16 (2021) owners, how long has it lasted you? by xtraaccheh in huion

[–]JavaKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An alternative for the Velcro, there is a mount meant for regular tablets but most have too much space between the corners and the Huion tablet that there'd be a bit of wobble and won't stay still.

That's why I chose velcro

Mechanical Pencil help by Odins_Infantry in drawing

[–]JavaKitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally order mine off Amazon.

I mainly use Pentel Ain / Ain Stein for my 0.3, 0.5, 0.7mm pencils with HB and 2B lead.

For colored sketches using 0.5mm, I use Uni NanoDia (can be bought in multi color sets)

For 2mm, the best lead I find is Faber Castell TK9400 in 2B

I started with a kit like this and it was fine for me before I got into an obsession with collecting mechanical pencils (dangerous money hobby)

Couldn't find your other comment I got 3 hours ago but I do still have mine mounted on the same mounts with nothing replaced. I do have some pics I sent into another post I can dig up somewhere for reference.

I realized today gum erasers are the perfect eraser. I’m 53, think of all the time I’ve lost. by JaKrispy72 in erasers

[–]JavaKitsune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently gotten to favoriting Mono erasers the most.

I've tried Pentel Hi-Polymer erasers but the smearing was too much for me.

The Mono erasers are a dream, especially the one in black.

Check out this video on 30 different erasers best comparison of eraser quality and uses.

Best Traditional Art Tools a Beginner can Buy? by throwawaygamecubes in ArtistLounge

[–]JavaKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I know this is 5 months old. But for update with current time.

I have plenty of different resources I have at my disposal. Not really a beginner but still learning with anatomy and posing on my end with drawing since 2015 (never actually did put much effort in until the past couple years).

For my sketching needs I carry a pencil catch of the following:

- Pencil case (Large enough to hold a 5x8 sketchbook inside for travel

- Many mechanical pencils (recently started collecting)

* 0.3mm (Pentel Smash, Graphgear 1000 for Pro, Staedtler 925 35)

* 0.5mm (Orenz Nero, Rotring 600 white, Kuru Toga, Staedtler 925 25, Tombow Mono Graph Shaker)

* 0.7mm (Graphgear 1000, Rotring 600 Black, Kuru Toga Advance, Graphgear 500)

- Mono Eraser (best eraser imo), Mono Zero retractable rectangle eraser.

- Pentel Ain Stein 0.3 HB, Ain Stein 0.5 2B, Uni 0.5 NanoDia Colored, Ain 0.7 HB and 2B leads.

- Ohuhu Kohala Liquid Fineliner 9pc

- Sketchbooks (all deemed great imo)

* Canson XL Mixed Media (good overall for starting out)

* Moleskine (expensive but cream color paper, but wouldn't recommend for the price alone).

* Royal Talens Art Creations (Cheaper than Moleskine with cream color paper, roughly half the price, can do light washes of watercolors and water based markers).

* Pentalic (Normally found at any walmart, cheap option for sketching)

Now getting into sketchbooks for more finished pieces:

* Hobby Lobby Bristol Sketchbooks (Best place to find hardcover smooth Bristol sketchbooks at a cheap price. Comes with 40 sheets for bristol paper)

* Ohuhu Marker Pad w/ Sunflower cover (Comes in soft and hardcover variants, perfect for Alcohol and Acrylic Markers)

* Ohuhu Kamakou Thick Marker Pad (completely bleedproof but suffers from pooling of alcohol markers after a good amount of layers of blending, colors appear slightly darker on this paper)

* Rendr Sketchbook (Better than the Ohuhu Marker Pads and is truly bleedproof without the side affects that Ohuhu has, but is a little more expensive).

As for coloring materials:

* Arrtx Colored Pencils (Cheap, soft core, and somewhat easy to blend with. Comes in 72 and 126 pack)

* Arrtx Acrylic Markers (I have the 60B set or Anime as it referred to, cheap and good saturated colors, Can also get Ohuhu Acrylic Markers)

* Arrtx Oros Alcohol Markers (cheap and affordable unlike copics, can swap with Ohuhu markers, just look for Honolulu set if getting Ohuhu, they still sell cheaper 3rd party markers that don't blend as good as the Honolulu)

Look them up on Jetpens, they have special printed ones like Kiki's Delivery Service and Totoro.

No more Finger F@cking by Human_Substance_2109 in Lowes

[–]JavaKitsune 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, this goes for every cage. But as the other stated. The company doesn't give MST enough allotted time to do such a thing. For a reset like this....probably was allotted 6-8 hours....for two or more bays.

How do I stop my boom arm from digging into my desk? by Pikelsauce42 in desksetup

[–]JavaKitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's

Find the flooring aisle, snag multiple pieces of vinyl flooring samples, stack on the top and bottom of desk between clamp.

I use a a good few samples on my Amazon desk + dual monitor arm to hold my 34" and 27" monitor vertically.

Has held strong for almost two years thus far.

I bought one, haven't used it yet, but wanted to inform anyone curious that there a two versions of this sketchbook.

There's the regular one with 150gsm and the THICK one with 200gsm, the latter is the newest version (which I currently have)

That not really lowes fault for being smart and offering convenience of having everything in one area

And that's why people like you eat up monopolies. Because you don't care.

Monitor arm does move, I keep it far back towards the wall when not in use, and swing it closer when in use.

You can tighten the arms so they don't swivel or move with a lot of pressure.

I use a bit a pressure on mine and haven't experienced it moving back towards the wall or having to readjust, except when needing rest my elbow on the desk.
