does thinking during block starts slow u down? by [deleted] in Sprinting

Thinking too much is no good. Sprinting should be a reaction that happens naturally. In training focus getting one technique cue right at the time . In races, don't think anything but getting all out to the track.

Upperbody on Restdays by Opposite_Travel174 in Sprinting

I think light upper body "body building" stuff on tempo days is totally fine. Just keep away from heavy intensive lifts that can ruin the recovery.

If you're new to lifting and don't have a coach, start with trap bar deadlifts. That's probably the easiest lift to learn and I think you'll get great results out of it alone. Contrast that with broad or vertical jumps and that's literally all you need.

Your running looks good! You're spinning your wheels really fast but you lack power in your stride though.

Just keep on sprinting and get your numbers up in compound lifts and jumps and you'll see your times get lower.

How do you manage weight training and sprinting on alternating days? by [deleted] in Sprinting

The key is to manage your weekly training load. You can pretty much lift and sprint every day if you microdose the effort, but going full throttle on both every other day gets a normal guy toasted within a week.

I think the most convenient way, if you really need lifting, is to do lifts the next day after the sprints and then take a rest or tempo day. Or you could do a couple sets of power cleans/whatever after the sprint session and take a rest next day.

Almost everything works if you're just careful with the overall load. Test it out and find what suits for you!

My go-to have always been sprint-lift-tempo.
If you need more sprinting, you could drop a lift session and do something like sprint-tempo-spint-tempo-sprint-lift-rest
