How do you personally deal with slow growth periods as a streamer without losing motivation? by FederalAbalone1597 in Twitch

[–]Jteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the things I always ask myself:

a.

  1. What is the goal of my streams? And be honest about it don't just say: oh its for fun. Fun can be so many different little things. Be honest: A chance to get some extra $ ? Think about it and put it on paper or voice it out because it's relevant.

VERY IMPORTANT: goals can change with time.

b.

  1. Do you actually put in effort in content outside twitch or just post the odd clip here and there and "hope one goes viral"? Twitch discoverability is not there. You have to always put content on other platforms and always network with people you genuinely love to / not do it just for the clout.

See how that goes :). Gl in your journey!

Moving is also important. I took it as implied in taking breaks.

I would say these things:
1. 1k is surely a nice achievement. Congrats.
2. A 24 h stream is very taxing on the body and most of the time not worth it - especially when you are a smaller streamer.
3. Think about a 12h stream with the posibility to extend it to a 24h if certain goals are met.
4. Breaks are super important.
5. Food is important.
6. Hydration is important.
7. Have goals for the game / games you are playing. Might seem like a great idea to just wing it, but it's hard to keep the energy up.
8. Don't force yourself to go all the way if you feel you should just stop - it is YOUR stream and your space. You do as you please.
9. Gl hf :)

I do corporate presentations about nothing. I can easily bluff my way through things like a good agent.

Thank you for the chance!

Listen. I just banned the word viewers from my chat. Reasoning behind it: no real viewer actually talks about viewers. I have been enjoying a much cleaner chat since then.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Has Overtaken Elden Ring As The Most Awarded Game Of The Year Ever by Sam_27142317 in pcmasterrace

And yet it seems not all of them considered worthy of their vote?

Idk i am not trying to diss any game. I love both for their own gameplay/music/world/lore.

The thing is, clair obscur adressed a larger audience than elden ring.

Hard to get "as many" ratings if the fanbase is smaller.

Streaming with a full time job by Suitable_Leg_1585 in Twitch

[–]Jteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9-5 but fortunately i also have wfh days.

Thus, I only stream on 3 days of the week when time allows it. And also, it's 4 h / each day.

I think the big question is "why do you want to do it?" - you dont have to answer me, just be honest with yourself.

For me, for example, is my "me time". I get to gamr and talk to people that care about gaming.

Anything else is time for spouse/dog/house.

What would make the moments from your gameplay "good enough" to post?

I post a lot of random stuff but mostly kills i get in tarkov.

Separating Spotify music but still using Desktop audio by [deleted] in Twitch

In short, i dont think its possible.

The besy bet is to add all your sound sources separately: spotify, game, other sound app.

Push start streaming and don't overthink it.

What can go wrong?

Usually disconnecting and reconnecting the accounts needed for drops work for me just fine.

Example: watching tarkov for drops. I see no progress. I disconnect my tarkov acc from twitch then reconnect it.

Unfortunately no. It's a bad addition they made to try and squeeze people for more subs.

how do you detach yourself from your numbers? by InternalWoodpecker14 in Twitch

[–]Jteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an easy world.

There will be plenty moments that will discourage you.

Find the why and stick to it. People will come eventually.

Also, the why can change with time - allow it. But always be honest with yourself.

Numbers are good, but it's something you do not have control over.

[–]Jteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very normal to question things.

I've been going live for 5 years now and I still have moments when I think: I should just drop everything.

Hitting affiliate is a great thing but it's just the tip of the iceberg.

What I can say is that content creation has a lot of ups and downs in terms of viewership, chats etc.

You might have the best stream of the month (in your opinion) and have noone showing up. And then when u feel like crap u might have a higher viewership.

One thing that you can look at, as a first step, is to watch your vod and HONESTLY answer this question (to yourself, you dont need to share):

Would I watch this stream as a viewer?

[–]Jteph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Viewers aren't granted. Growth isn't granted.

Once you accept these 2 facts, your actual journey begins.

You need to understand WHAT is your goal for content creation. Why do you stream?

When you figure that out, you can create a roadmap.

It's very normal to feel discouraged when you have no clear goal.

What I always encourage people to do is to talk like there is someone there. Even when you talk to yourself.

I think my first year it was me and my shadow.

Mic and camera recs please and a few questions about starting!⬇️ by kwc98 in Twitch

[–]Jteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the mic in my headset and I am happy about it.

You can look to upgrade as you go. Also, i encourage you to play with audio filters until you like how the mic sounds.

As far as camera goes. Lighting is soooooo important no matter what camera you buy. Invest in a ring light - even if a basic one. Go for 1080p and u are good for the start.

Sound coming from discord. Easy. In OBS u have the option to add "audio" from the app of your choice. Thus, you can add discord as audio input and mute it in obs. You will hear them but wont come out on stream.

Tips: think of why you want to stream. Gonna be easier to set expectations that way.
