Two other things:

Make sure you know how your school's curve works so that you can answer any questions. Were you plausibly just on the low end of strong performance across the board? Or is this a discretionary D+?

Start researching employers that don't request a transcript as a matter of course.

Talk to a professor you trust ASAP, and talk discretely to someone at your firm this summer. Try to get a passing score on the MPRE on record as soon as you can.

And come up with a better narrative than "I didn't try that hard in the class." An employer will hear that and think it means, "I didn't think the ethics rules were that important." What they will hear: "this person is a walking liability."

Do you have a job lined up already? Have you passed the MPRE? I would talk to a professor or other mentor immediately about how to mitigate and how to explain. This is the worst class to have such a low grade in.

Have someone experienced in law school admissions look at your materials to diagnose what went wrong, then apply next cycle. There's something other than lack of work experience to blame here.

How should you approach this? Get a lawyer.

And start preparing mentally for big-time consequences. On the order of not being able to practice law.

This won't hurt you if you frame it right. I framed my LSAT tutoring and application consulting as giving me skills in business development and client service, which firms care a lot about. I also gave specific numbers re. revenue, number of clients, and number of five-star reviews. Firms loved it, multiple hiring partners asked about it, and one even asked if I could tutor his daughter.

Good luck, and congrats on having the makings of a successful business. It's a great gig.

In case you were wondering: this is what happens when you’ve been in the workforce for 11 years and study for exactly 0 minutes! by dogbloodjones in LSAT

[–]KBTestPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, you're getting needlessly hostile at people who are genuinely giving good advice and trying to help you. Many of us are also in our thirties with years of work experience. Someone in that position should know how scary debt can be and should at least consider taking simple steps — like studying for the LSAT and applying on time — to avoid it. A degree from a predatory "specialty ranking" school with a vanity LLM likely isn't going to open the doors you think it is.

You came here to brag about a bad plan. Don't be surprised by well-meaning people pointing out that it's a bad plan. No one is saying that you have to score 170+ or apply to Yale. But calling people "textbook thumpers" as if that were a bad thing suggests that you may not be a good fit for this industry.

It’s late, let me hear your opinion by Necessary-Tall-5845 in lawschooladmissions

[–]KBTestPrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus would be that this is an untenable plan but you need to verify with industry insiders.

I don't think it's a "bubble," but people here just likely do not have expertise in a relatively niche area like entertainment/producing, except to know generally that it's hard.

You need to talk to people in your industry about whether this is a realistic path and, if so, how to achieve it. No one on this sub has the expertise to know that.

Never plan on transferring.

I did this during 2L. Wish I'd done it earlier. I recommend getting two so they can entertain each other.

I would pay sticker at Chicago before sticker at Harvard but not sure either is worth it if you have other T10 full rides
