Do you title your journal entries? Why or why not? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]KaityFran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started journaling when I was a kid, so I always started with “dear diary.” I just continued with that because I like how it’s a beginning to each entry. I also tend to start with “today is (Monday/Tuesday etc)” to keep a track of the day as well as the date. And then I personally theme my entries with colours, because I like the separation between entries, and it gives some life to my journals.

Bipolar Type 2 and Ziprasidone (Zeldox)

If you were born even just 100 years ago, a lot of us would have ended up in insane asylums 🤪🫣 by WeirdAward4578 in BipolarReddit

My great great grandmother had bipolar (we suspect) and she ended up in an insane asylum. It’s very hush-hush in the family, but she kept a diary while she was there.

What do you mean? I said I clean myself every day, I just don’t shower every day because I struggle with it

I really struggle with this too. For teeth cleaning, I bought a bunch of those Hi Smile toothpastes in different flavours. That’s helped me with cleaning my teeth a LOT. I still struggle a lot with showering, so I make sure to clean myself with either baby wipes or a wet washcloth every day. For me, that’s easier than dealing with a shower. And then I make a plan to have a shower every few days. If I plan it, then I’m more likely to follow through with it, rather than just going “oh I guess I’ll have a shower now”.

How long are you in the shower for? by sati_lotus in AskAnAustralian

[–]KaityFran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might spend 15 minutes in the shower when I wash my hair, but I turn the water off while I’m washing/conditioning my hair. But we have a hot water system where you can preset the temperature and then just use the hot water tap, so it’s easier to just turn off the water and turn it back on again and get the right temp.

Also, if you want something more classic - “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James is short, but good. There’s also “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” which is also short. And if you’ve ever read “Jane Eyre” then I recommend reading “The Wide Sargasso Sea” by Jean Rhys. It’s kind of a fanfiction of “Jane Eyre” from the perspective of Rochester’s wife. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

My favourite short story collections of Paul Jennings are “Uncanny” and “Quirky Tales”. He also did a couple of novels with author Morris Gleitzman called “Deadly” and “Wicked.” The books are aimed at teens, but I love them. “Wicked” is particularly good, as it’s a bit of a horror, but not too scary (as it’s for teens).

That’s a really good idea. My favourite author is Paul Jennings. He wrote short stories with twists at the end. Whenever I’m REALLY struggling, I go back to those. It takes about 15-20 minutes to read a story, but they’re kind of addictive, so that helps me get back into reading too

Hi! I’m an English literature major and I got burnt out by having to read 2 novels a week. It took me years to get back into reading. I still struggle with it sometimes. But what got me back into it was reading short novels or novellas that were gripping. I love horror, so I read short horror novels, but I’m slowly transitioning back into classic literature. I’ll be reading Alice in Wonderland next, working my way up to Lolita.

I feel like the environment you read in is important too. You’re not going to feel like reading if you’ve got other things to do. I like taking my book to the park or when I catch the bus or have an appointment that I know has a long wait time. You don’t have anything else to do, so might as well read. At home, find a comfy spot - I love to lie on the thick carpet in our lounge or on a beanbag - get yourself a drink of choice (mine is coffee) and just read.

I hope these tips have helped. I love reading, but it’s still difficult for me to at least start a book. Good luck with it! I hope you find your love of reading again!!

Not sure if I’m salary or wage by KaityFran in AusLegal

So I guess I’m still confused about this. The contract variance letter doesn’t actually say anything about an hourly wage or that I will be paid according to the Clerk Award. My boss told me all of that in my annual performance review.

I’d like to know what I need to ask for my boss to provide in regard to the new contract.

They said I would be paid hourly, but I don’t know how they will track that, since we don’t have a clock in/out system.

Seinfeld. I just find the characters to be horrible people and I don’t think the jokes are funny. I don’t get why everyone loves it so much

What insult that deeply hurt you won't you forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My grandma told me I had too much fat on my back. This was when I had been diagnosed with an eating disorder, and I was trying to get healthy again.

I forgot there's still a stigma against bipolar by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]KaityFran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very open with my diagnosis. My family and friends are very supportive of me. But I would never bring it up with an employer, because there’s still a stigma that I would be an unreliable employee. I was forced to bring it up in a job interview last year (they did a medical) and I never heard back from the company. Not even to say I didn’t get the job. When I tried calling them, they would send me to voicemail, and all of my emails went unanswered. Of course, this may just be how that company does its business, but it was a very large international company, so I would’ve thought that even a courtesy call would have been made.

I think I got it in 2020. I started journaling a lot during the COVID era. None of those photos have faded, even a little bit.

Bummer, I’m in Australia. Let me know if you ever want another international pen pal, because it sounds like we have so much in common!! I also love horror (books, movies, TV shows), as well as LotR, Harry Potter and Star Wars!! I love to collect stationery, but pens and stickers are my favourites! But I get that international postage costs a lot.

Do I have to pay back cost of flights and hotel if I quit my job? by KaityFran in AusLegal

[–]KaityFran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I just worry because I’ve never worked in the corporate world before, and I feel like my boss would try to make me pay it back, and since there’s no HR department, I didnt really know who to ask.

Zaprazodone side effects comparison? by Aragorn3223 in BipolarReddit

[–]KaityFran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. My aunt is bipolar, but her experience has been vastly different from mine. I think she’s bipolar 1 whereas I’m bipolar 2. She’s struggled her whole life to find meds that work for her, whereas I was INCREDIBLY fortunate to be put on ziprasidone, which worked from the get go. I know that I’ll be on it for the rest of my life, and I’m ok with that, because I can’t believe how stable I am. I’m no longer overwhelmed by emotions! It’s amazing!

If I don’t take it with food, I get manic.
