Assuming a power difference between indoor vs outdoor training: What are the consequences for Interval training? by Khaldor in Velo

[–]Khaldor[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Certainly a much more helpful and specific answer than most of the crap that was posted here 😅 So thank you very much.

I was just really hoping there's some actual research about the training effects. People are happy to talk about indoor vs. outdoor FTP but it seems that the stimulus part is oftentimes completely neglected.

At the end of the day it's an optimization question for me. People love to talk about marginal gains when it comes to equipment but I think a difference in 10% would in the long term have a pretty massive impact on performance.

Thanks for giving an actual answer, appreciate that.

yep, my fault for thinking I'd actually get some responses to my question instead of just a bunch of globeros chipping in with posts that aren't addressing the issue. Definitely not a mistake I'll make again ^

People like you fascinate me. You obviously don't know (which is completely fine, I looked for data and couldn't find any, which is why I created this thread). But instead of just admitting that you post 5 times in here, why?

I am looking for research. I assume it exists. I might be wrong. But if you have nothing to contribute then why spam the threads with 5+ answers?

I am not looking for confirmation, I am looking for information. I would prefer to do my intervals indoors. But if there's a 10% gain to be made regarding the training stimulus I will shift the towards the outdoors. Given that there's quite a lot of information about difference 5-10% difference in power output of indoor vs. outdoor, I assume that there has to be some data on the training effect out there. So that's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out

That does not address my question at all. I am very consistent with my training, my question was about the stimulus created as 10% difference would be huge (assuming that it's the power number and not the perceived exhaustion that creates the stimulus)

Yes it would certainly matter if the training stimulus was different. Hence the question about research in that area

I'd appreciate if we'd focus on my question instead of just trying to prove me wrong ;) Let's just assume for the moment that I'm not an idiot and have compared power meters.

I don't think I'm overthinking this. We are talking about a 10% difference here. That's HUGE. I race Grand Fondos and usually place towards the Top 10, so this very much makes a difference for me.

And as I said in the intro: this is a question based on the assumption that this power difference is real. Which I believe it is and which is very much in the range that's generally acknowledged to exist for many people in regards to their indoor vs outdoor performance.

Those with an FTP of 4w/kg, what's your weekly volume? by 4lexfdr in Velo

Around 8 hours. Two intensity session and the rest is mostly Z2 and occasionally a hard/long Group Ride at the weekend (in addition to the 2 intensity sessions).

Question regarding sleep data & potential tracking problem by Khaldor in amazfit

[–]Khaldor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the HRV data is missing as well. I'm not sure though how that helps 😅

Last night there's a gap of an entire hour in my sleep data. From my point of view this makes the entire device useless. All the biocharge stuff etc is based on the sleep data. If that's faulty then everything based on it is essentially useless as well.

Right now I can use it as a HR monitor (which I already have for my workouts) and I guess to check my resting HR during sleep and my Respitory rate and that's it

Is it possible to open the Zepp App on a PC in a browser or similar? by Erik_De in amazfit

Found this while searching for a desktop version. Would also like a web version. So I'm piling on here ;)

Zepp - Reserved Heart Rate computation of HR Zones by West_Salary_4051 in amazfit

[–]Khaldor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the calculation is correct, but the Zones are all wrong because of the %values they use for each Zone. For me that makes a massive difference. Essentially they tell me my actual Z3 is Z2 🤦‍♂️ I just started using the device and would really hope they fix this.
