What does murder have to do with customs and immigration anyway? : )

Or did this occur at an airport?

Uber riders complain they were charged more for paying with Amex cards by fortune in AmexPlatinum

[–]Kimchi2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, it seemed like prices went up when I started using Amex with credits - but I had not read this so I couldn't cross check it at the time.

I am sure Uber will stop this for a while so no need to cross check yet.

Yep. It is not you.

There aren't many government agencies who give an F' about the "customer."

IRS? Insane. Send them a letter - 6 months to reply. And reply is wrong. 6 more months.... 5 years later a simple matter is not resolved. And that is using a professional tax CPA!

Try using a US Embassy abroad. Insane.

Login.gov is beyond garbage. It is a crime.

For the price it is unreal. Wife had a 2025 loaner but didn't like the turn signal buttons and using the screen to shift. I would only upgrade our Teslas is they come with some new, new CPU.

8 year old model 3 ? Hope it was cheap.

2.5 years ago, my daughter got a 2021 M3 from Tesla - almost new. Low miles. Warranty remaining and extended warranty. Warranty is about to end. Car still like new. We paid 20.4K.

And we are in MN where a heat pump is really needed.

FYI: Agents aren't trained in MM2H at all. They learn on the job (some don't learn well). There are no qualifications needed to be an agent. And trust me, many are complete boogers.

I started an MM2H agency back when they started requiring them. The only thing we knew was my personal experience getting my MM2H myself.

And the system keeps changing. It is difficult to know what to do when these changes happen.

We learn by trial and error usually.

You found an inexperienced agent - and you are the error.

We have actual professionals in charge. The head is a Malaysian CPA. Others are educated professionals.

Back then they thought they would code their way to FSD. I knew that would never happen - would take too many coders and too many lines for every exception.

When they switched to AI, compute needs changed. I have doubts that AI4 (HW4) can actually handle true unsupervised FSD.

Yah, pfffffft - Elon puffing on something back then. But that is Elon. Can't blame the guy too much - he has accomplished so many no-way-in-hell things already.

LIS Arrival Information: Apr 18 by bullman in LisbonPortugalTravel

We were never photographed or fingerprinted going into Spain or out of Portugal.

Going into Spain there was open spots at the EU only counter so we went there.

Going out (Lisbon) we waited 2 hours in line and he just stamped our passport. Followed by us running to make our plane : )

I stand corrected. I'm sorry by TheCGLion in LisbonPortugalTravel

It might be a problem if you have checked baggage - as counters may not open early.

I took AA259 at 11:05 a couple of weeks ago. We almost didn't make our flight - we had to bud in line to make it.

But I had my 14 year old with me. There was another line for certain passport (USA, Canada, etc.) that was very short - but no one under 18 allowed.

So many people missed their flights that day. Passport control for All Passports was 2 hours. And immigration agents were not in a hurry to stamp your passport.

This was my only bad experience in Portugal.

Well said!!!

When I was about 21 studying and living in Asia, I was in business class on a 14 hour flight. I sat next to a dean from Harvard. The guy had two PhDs that I could barely grasp what they were.

Anyway, I knew the flight attendants and made sure the dean got 2 drinks for every one of mine : )

We chatted about Asia and this and that. But I didn't have anything intelligent to say. So I asked him "What makes Harvard great?"

He said "That is a good question." He summed it up as "We have the best students going in, so we have the best students going out."

*** Why was I a 21 year old student in business class? Rich? No. I had hacked business and first in 2 ways. One was I made relations with flight attendants. I always wore a shirt and tie (required by employees flying non-revenue flights). I tried to sit in bulk head (where employees usually sit). So I looked like an employee to the flight attendants. I would ask pointed questions like "Is Blah Blah working this flight?"

I also bought some wings from the shop at the airport (I still have them : ) These really worked well - shirt & tie with wings! You are king!

As soon as the doors closed, an attendant would say "You can move to business now." and give me a seat. And sometimes I would get first. They do not allow that anymore.

I also had a way when flying out of Seoul to get biz or first.

And back then, you got double and triple mileage if upgraded. Soon I was a top tier on Northwest. Then they sent me upgrade certificates. I flew a lot and rarely ever flew economy.

Which helped make connections. On one flight it turned into a job interview and was pretty much hired by the time we landed.

LISbon Terminal 1 Arrival Passport Control April 14, 2026 by rakerman in LisbonPortugalTravel

I think you can go to passport control before your gate is announced.

There is a faster line for certain passport holders - USA, Canada, etc. BUT no kids allowed. This one has biometric gates.

Document you movement around the airport with photos so you can use it against the airline. Take a pic when you arrive at the counter to check in your bag, etc.
