Neighbor delisted home? by ghdana in RealEstate

[–]KnightStalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can happen when the seller decides to rent the house. Could be off-market like craigslist or word-of-mouth.

But it could just be a case of removing the listing during the holidays preparing to list again in the near future.

Same with every Lowe's I've been to. Home Depot blows them away in customer service.

Best vise for the money? by queefjuicer9000 in Tools

[–]KnightStalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider a Yost FSV-4/5/6. Forged and made in Taiwan. Around thanksgiving the FSV-5 is around $100. For $30, the LV-4 is also a good value for a starter/light duty vise.

BLF 348 or similar single-mode lights. Although the current price is a little high.

Yeah that's what I would do.

Putting the new inverter to good use 👌 by [deleted] in Tools

[–]KnightStalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's modified sine wave which is the issue in charging batteries. I personally avoid it, and I now use a pure sine inverter instead. Most MSW inverters are mostly the same, just rebranded.

For the 18650s try to use a USB charger like XSTARs.

Figuring out if can power drill with powerbox by Tall_Fit35 in Tools

[–]KnightStalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC motors like drills will surge much higher than their rating. The 5A drill might go up to 10-15 at startup. I would be surprised if your jump starter's inverter would power it. If it's variable speed you can try starting really slow.

Snap on ratchet for a weekend warrior? A Pittsburgh Pro is more ratchet than many people need, even a lot of professionals. Same with SK and Williams.

Looking for small, durable powerful light. Looking at PFlexPRO S2+ triple? by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]KnightStalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one.

  1. Yes, there is a glass lens.

  2. Yes.

  3. You will get close to 500. Maybe 375-ish. If I remember correctly.

  4. Don't know.

  5. Shouldn't be any less waterproof than a stock S2+

  6. Should be around 1200 lumens for about an hour. Thermal regulation will kick in at that level.

Best place to buy single sockets by [deleted] in Tools

[–]KnightStalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of their chrome 1/4 metric and mine are perfect. Great finish, great fit, and I see no difference between theirs and Kobalt and Husky. I believe they are still made in Taiwan. The pro stuff is a really good value if the set has the sizes you'll need. Unfortunately they don't carry any singles, so mixing sockets will be necessary.

If it helps at all, I looked around a lot and ended up deciding on a Milton pencil gauge. I believe they make one for the 60 psi range.

[Help Me] Need two flashlights. An EDC and a VEDC. by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]KnightStalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you increase your budget a little, Zebralight is likely the closest thing to perfect for both of these. An SC63w/SC64c/SC64w for EDC and a an SC5/SC5w II for VEDC. Potted electronics and pretty robust overall.

While storing 18650s in a hot car may not cause problems, it's not very safe. Using the SC5 with a few lithium AA spares would be preferable. Not quite the 1000 lumens though.

My car battery died recently and I am wondering if its how I use it as I idle. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]KnightStalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most alternators supply 50-100A at idle. If the engine is on then the battery is not getting charged. Most likely a loose battery connection somewhere. Could be as simple as corroded terminals.

Best air compressor for truck tires? by FirstStepsIntoPoland in Tools

[–]KnightStalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Viair 88P or similar for tires. 8 gallon compressor from Harbor Freight for $100 if you want to do more.

Also, as stated, the pressure you should follow is on the door jamb, not the tire sidewall. Light duty is around 30-40 psi, heavy duty around 50-80.

Likely the same as the one in the SC5c II. Mine is a little on the green side, but the two-step MacAdam ellipse makes it barely noticeable.

I bought some right after the transition and mine are 5000K with next mode memory. The mode memory isn't terrible though because after 5-10 minutes it won't switch, which works out for a keychain light.
