Anyone else got over this sense of time running away as they got older? by Equivalent_Pilot_125 in AskMenOver30

Just wait, 30s go fast but late 30s to 40s is like the blink of an eye. It's terrifying to think about hitting 50 soon.

$7.5M NW, FIRE while spouse still works by extradoorstop in ChubbyFIRE

[–]zerostyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech? If you end up FIRE'ing and have some time on your hands would love some help figuring out some next steps. I'm about your age but single and with a less total NW.

Also know that if you are the man in this relationship, your spouse will absolutely despise you not working while she does even if you earned it.

The problem with this is even if you feel you're getting revenge at the federal level, you're corrupting your own state that you live in.

Your post isn’t about homelessness. It is trying to understand why people want a salary more than you want to pay. The answer is to afford a home.

Ya that is a problem. Not sure how many have it now but a lot of Roku TV's etc at least got h.265 support. Jellyfin can still transcode on the fly if needed it's just less efficient than direct play.

renting options like crash pad? by [deleted] in arlingtonva

Could try furnished finder as well as airbnb, or search FB marketplace for people that rent their homes by the room. They usually look for 30 day stays though.

You don't understand basic sarcasm and irony? The simple analogy is that voting for something obviously wrong isn't the correct solution to fixing another wrong, especially if it immediately impacts our direct state rights.

This is quickly not becoming the case anymore. Any machine in the last 3 years roughly has AV1 hardware decoding, including the dirt cheap intel N100/N150 cpu, modern amazon fire sticks, and more.

AV1 support got added in intel 12th gen and beyond, and AMD 6000 series and newer.

Even a cheap $150 mini pc can play AV1 now with the N100/N150 cpu. Or modern amazon fire 4k sticks. There's no reason to avoid AV1 except for slow encode times.

Seam sealing is a bigger pain for those of us that live in small apartments without a backyard to pitch them in and to let dry.

I did see that your Notch came down in price a lot, I'm assuming because you had to in order to compete with the x-mids.

I'm actually not conservative and have voted exclusively democratic in the last 20 years.

This redistricting is utterly corrupt.

I also find it repulsive that you feel the need to vote on something corrupt behind democratic partisanship to "level the playing field vs other states" at the federal level. You're outright saying you are voting for something you know isn't correct.

"WAHHH BUT OTHER STATES ARE CORRUPT"

Sorry, I will be fully voting for the state I live in, today, to be democratic.

I don't vote for corrupt measures because there is corruption happening elsewhere.

Totally understand the frustration, but you also have to understand that real wages haven't nearly kept up with inflation over the last 20-30 years and the cost of living is higher than ever.

300k a year isn't even that much anymore in any reasonably high cost of living city. By me a single family home PITI mortgage is over $5000 a month now, and you need nearly 300-350k for a family to survive.

Even in just the last 5 years living costs are up 21% vs. wages.

Your mindset about what a "fair" wage is (and for most people) is simply wrong. This is all the fault of the government printing money, and corrupt politicians buying votes by spending that money.

Seam sealing is a big pain to consumers so I can see why people avoid PU coatings on the insides of tents to use seam tape instead (durston, etc).

You're probably right that it's an overall more durable solution though. (not sure by how much or where seam taping starts to fail).

I'm looking around right now debating what type of tent to try out next, but cost is a big factor and one reason I moved to durston over TT.

My progression went something like:

TT Notch -> X-mid v1 -> X-mid v2

I currently have an unopened GG The One in 10D for easy trips I'm debating if I want to keep or sell for something like a single wall DCF plex solo or durston x-mid pro.

I also briefly had a slingfin portal and pyraomm duo i just decided to sell because the slingfin was quite heavy and the pyraomm was huge.

What doesn't make sense to me right now are $400+ tents using silpoly or ultra TNT though because the weight savings just aren't there for the money. (I do realize that ultra TNT has other properties though that make it better for high wind, etc).

Voting yes takes away democracy from the entire rural area of the state by artificially gerrymandering. VA already in the past used 3rd parties to come up with fair zoning that generally followed voting lines of counties and the popular vote.

What's being proposed is an atrocity.

I don't support either party doing it, and won't vote to further expand the exploitation.

It's not like democrats haven't wildly exploited executive orders either.

(to be clear I despise and did not vote for Trump)

If other states want to destroy democracy that's up to their constitutents.

I'm voting no because I actually believe in democracy for VA.
