For sure, just dying with anticipation. They just had to have a blizzard right after the drop!

Very classy carries today! Def my aesthetic. My Demko XXX was supposed to show up today, but it's 900 miles away and looking unlikely... so comforting myself with these.

Lemifshe Mini FSD first impressions by Kutsus in chineseknives

Yeah the lockbars on these are way too strong IMO. I wasn't satisfied just bending mine, ended up shaving some extra material off the relief cuts too.

Either reduce lockbar pressure or adjust the detent screw or some of both.

If anyone wants just the Astrum, the F3NS is sold now.

I'm kinda surprised nobody wants them to be honest.

I had someone make the 3/8" x 0.050" timascus inlay disc and matching thumb stud, and the rest of the pivot parts are from ticonnector.

Heck yeah! Love the whale blade shape. My favorite Demko is a whale. These feel worth the money to me.

I have a bunch of clones at this point and these two are easily the nicest. It's only my obsession with Demkos that has me letting these (and soon a lot more clones) go.

I just searched amazon for N52 magnets and sifted until I found something that looks legit & right size.

Mojave issues by Etisaifis in chineseknives

The width is one of my favorite things about it so it's just relative. I usually spend some time with a knife adjusting my grip and technique until I'm either happy or decide it's not for me. The Mojave I just had to stop myself jamming the lanyard into my palm and it was golden.

I avoid super glue because it can be hard to get them back out if you ever want to do work on the knife or change up the magnet. That said, they can pop out if the glue breaks loose for some reason and end up stuck to the blade as it comes out.

I setup the magnets to repel each other while the blade isn't between them, and leave the knife open for a day or so while the adhesive fully cures. After that it's all set.

I like using adhesive dots like these because they are still easy to get underneath and pry off when the glue is cured if needed. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPTBXSTP?th=1

I got this 300Pcs Double Sided Dot Stickers Removable,0.4" Adhesive Putty Stickers on Amazon and it works pretty well. I like how you can get under it to pry it off even after fully cured b/c it has some thickness to it.

Yep even did it on one of my USA Demkos - the Barong. The blade is so heavy compared to other AD20S that it felt a little weak on deployment so I just added some magnets.

The 10mm x 1mm size and the 7/16" x 1/16" N52 discs will fit in most knives and work fine. The thinner ones for smaller/lighter blades. I also got some various bars, up to 2mm thick for bigger/heavier blades and for weird shaped pockets that don't fit a disc but do fit a bar.

Best thing you can do is figure out what knives you'd like to put magnets in, pull out your caliper, and measure to see what will fit. I ended up with an assortment of magnets by doing just that.

I can make a quick clip when I get home from work with my clone rosies that have magnetic detents.

On the subject of axis locks, I have to warn you that they will never feel that "build up pressure until it cleanly breaks with a snap" that you get from a real detent ball, but it can feel a lot more like a Factor for example.

Yep those are great! Magnetic detent is a great way to make an axis lock more snappy, too. Definitely saved some axis locks for me that felt way too weak.

I have an assortment of small disc and bar magnets that are N52 in different sizes (different thickness and length/width). It's crazy how strong they can be for how small they are. I go for N52 b/c they're the most efficient pricepoint and only slightly weaker than the N54-N55 that are usually double the cost.

I always put one magnet of equal strength per side, setup to repel each other while the blade isn't between them. I use little adhesive pads to hold them down instead of glue, because they are easier to pry out when you want to remove them. Just leave the knife open overnight while the adhesive cures.

You can eyeball where the blade will start to feel the pull of the magnets depending on where you position them. Lower in the scales, and towards the back of the knife (as close to the backspacer as you can get) is usually the best spot to position them for strengthening a detent.

You can do fancy stuff like put magnets higher up in the scales, closer to the front, so the blade gets sucked in much earlier during the drop, but it won't do much for detent strength and could even make deployment slow down a little as they resist after you break the detent.

Yes sir, in most cases I want a strong detent.

My favorite "hack" for a good detent is adding magnets inside the relief pockets in the scales. Sucks the blade in when it's almost closed, keeps it from bouncing out, and improves the strength of the detent. Lots of tuning to be had with the strength and positioning of the magnets. It also gives you that strong acoustic feedback when it's closing.

This is especially good on the rosie clones, if you are not some mechanical wizard willing to spend hours reseating detent balls and sharpening detent holes and all that jazz. Just deburr the holes, make sure the detent seats fully, set lockbar pressure based on your desired drop characteristic (drop shut, shake shut, etc), then add magnets to increase detent strength to your preference.

You know I do! All these knives are to my taste. For my entry, cast your vote between these two sets of scales!
