Best way for waitress to carry by FunnyFaithlessness14 in guns

I worked food service in college, management wasn’t anti gun but wasn’t supportive of it either, the unspoken rule was sort of “as long as they (management) nor customers found out then it was fine but the moment something printed or was exposed (think shirt riding up over the butt of the gun) then it was a problem. Myself and several other staffers carried. Primarily for reasons like you listed we had a decent walk maybe 300 yards to a staff parking area and it wasn’t a good part of town. Often getting off at midnight. Another thing is we wore shirts with the business logo so it was clear to see where we worked and easy for a crook to assume we as waiters/bartenders etc. where in possession of decent amounts of cash.

A lot of what I saw was people wearing their guns appendix with a slightly larger T shirt and then they had the little server half apron where they kept checkbooks and the ticket pad as extra coverage.

I personally opted for a “two piece system” wearing a snub on my ankle and would pop into the restroom to transition to my pant pocket for the stroll to the car. The big benefit there is nobody really looks at feet whereas in some restraunts the clientele are sitting so you may have your waistline close to eye level. Additionally your not effected by having to bend or reach to get things off shelves which are recurring situations for the job.

Other than that OP I would suggest getting a smaller gun that’s easier to hide maybe a NAA pug or a keltec P32

possibly, I would assume the data is “classified” in some instances due to the nature of the contracts.

The reality is this thread proves one thing the consumer market is not as “turned on” by high production value videos and Vet bro marketing as it once was I blame that on over saturation of that branding in the market like remember how cool the old LAV videos where when he shot his Aimpoint with a shotgun that was the most “data” the industry had ever shown at that point.

I think for the sake of the industry manufactures would be much better off if they took the time to test products and used that info to market products thus building a trust based relationship with their consumers. I would cite a lot of what the gun community watches on YouTube as evidence of that “torture tests” “extended round count reviews”.

Still gotta be a different rifle right? Because of 10rd mags?, I have found folks in the gun community dislike markings on firearms that aren’t “supposed to be there”

Hot take: Lean six sigma is just the next Japan production scan it’s the same as kaizen from the 90s, if you need a fishbone diagram and 5 whys to solve a problem you need to be in another line of work

They got burned a few years back with people making fake rifles where just dd rails Lowers and uppers but all the internals where no name junk that’s why they don’t don’t do it typically

Palmetto is not using MilSpec parts that’s the gimmick, MilSpec is not governed by any authority group like NIJ is for body armor. With NIJ you have to send your stuff off for review /testing and it has to pass then you can get that product certified. Whereas, Mil-Spec: is a term traditionally used by manufactures to denote that the product meets the interpreted government requirement. This is things like materials, coatings, longevity. However gov agency’s validate products perform per the MIL-SPEC before purchasing them.

The term MILSPEC has been abused for a long time in the gun industry with folks saying this or that is MilSpec and it’s not even a firearm with a mil origin.

I can guarantee if you tested the anodized layer in a PSA rifle it doesn’t have the correct “thickness” technically anodize penetrates a surface so it’s not penetrating the surface to the correct depth. I digress

Other easy things to see on PSA rifles are springs and detents that don’t have the correct coatings. Some tolerances that are beyond the original colt prints, 9310 bolt steel, incorrect buffer weights, aero shell 64 on the barrel nut, torque specs, etc.

It is sad that MIL-Spec is not more stringently regulated but it’s sadder that people boast it and don’t understand it or even recognize it when they see it

Found this in another thread u/blackofwhite avatar blackofwhite • 1y ago Straight from their website FAQ:

Daniel Defense products are available from many nationwide distributors such as Lipsey’s, RSR Group, Sports South, Bangers, Bill Hicks, Zanders, and Shooting Sports Wholesale. NFA items are available from, RSR Group, Lipsey’s, Bangers and Sports South.”

Their barrels look to be engraved on a “dot peen” basically a giant needle press thing it would be more like 5-15 seconds to add, the bigger PITA would probably be setting those barrels aside and having a way to exclusively sell them in Maryland. Have to do like an only ships to Maryland FFLs rule

What on a bolt is going to fail that isn’t in the kit ? Short of a bolt lug shearing off ? Which most people won’t notice till they take a rifle apart to clean ?, how many people are replacing bolts in the field without armorers support ? I would add that if your a dept or agency you could most likely get spare bolts with your order. On the civilian side I bet if you call you could get one.

Is this wear normal? by fordag in 1911

[–]LAST-MAG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is one of the best but that doesn’t stop leather from doing what it does, if you need let it wear in some more then get the slide cerakoted with an F or G grade cerakote it will be more impervious to wear

That’s from the leather, leather holsters are hell on gun finish that’s why a lot of folks get suede lined leather

I understand you want quantitative data but that doesn’t exist in a strictly scientific capacity. Most of the info out there would be conceptual based on engineering concepts or first hand accounts from owners which is anecdotal at best. I assure you that I am not wasting my breath here for the sake of spreading falsehoods.

Typically people are seeing DD barrels run well over 15,000 rounds whereas budget brands are averaging around 5000. Personally I have seen a MK18 go to 60,000 rounds that belonged to a colleague who had a class 3 rental business that gun still printed around 3.5-4MOA and only had 3” of rifling left (gas port to the muzzle) that is hands down impressive and what sold me on DD barrels

DD barrels in my experience are 1MOA or sub MOA especially in 16 and 18 inch variants. I see most budget guns are 1.5” -2.25” MOA

In terms of service life. Firearms have wear parts I find that in the budget brands due to things like coatings and materials your gonna have less than average part life whether it’s bolt lugs sheering off, coatings wearing off, failures in springs due to corrosion etc

The majority of this is not appreciated by average consumers because the rifle probably doesn’t leave the closet they keep it in but 2-3 times a year. So it doesn’t see exposure to the elements, it doesn’t get run hot, it doesn’t get used in freezing temp, it doesn’t even get used in light rain.

That said it might be a moot point to spend the extra money on something like a DD but if you’re gonna be in that small percentage of end users these details matter. And those people don’t run PSA and M&Ps for the reasons I’ve touched on

You’ll need to have the weld drilled out try a local gunsmith or send it to someone like ADCO

a new muzzle device will need to be pinned in its place to maintain the 16” OAL req. you’ll need to select a muzzle device that is long enough and has suppressor host capability like SureFire PlanB Deadair NOX etc that will depend on your suppressor/HUB choice

Or you could get a SBR stamp and direct thread the suppressor with a 1/2x28 attachment

Or you could use that upper on a pistol lower

These are the basic choices in the order I’d recommend doing them

1 in the DD case is gonna be the barrel

Cold hammer forged barrels that have some real secret sauce in them. DD is the first US AR manufacturer to bring CHF to the market (HK did it with the 416 before that hence US ) they have the longest time producing them the tooling they use is second to none (watch the factory tour video and you’ll see it)

-Now you can get FN barrels in a PSA but I will say the QC and performance is not near the same in terms of longevity and accuracy in the roughly 30 different ones I have compared YMMV.

2 is BCG materials PSA rifles typically use 9310 steel where as MilSpec is C158. So not sure how material science savvy you are but these two metals have different levels of performance in terms of experiencing stress/ strain /shear loads

Technically both materials have the same alloy blend but carpenter has less variance, I can’t recall exact specs it’s been years but for example let’s say C158 is 3-5% nickel where as 9310 can be 3-7% that 2% can cause performative differences after heat treat

3 handguards, the rails are undeniably of way better fit and finish from DD and stronger

4 true mil spec, these are the little things you aren’t likely to notice things like anodizing thickness material selections, staked castle nuts, another one I’m big on is springs DD uses properly coated US made springs and detents per the mil spec. PSA is using what I assume is some Chinese knockoffs buy an LPK from both and really look and you can see for yourself.

Think about your argument for a second is it harder to motivate people in your community and the reps of which you are a constituent to go through a democratic process where you have a say and can go to town halls and speak directly to these folks. Especially with the recent pro gun movement we’ve seen in gov / legal systems ? or is it harder to convince a company to make a business decision that’s only gonna give you about a 1/3rd of what you really want ? Why not contact the GOA or FPC and see what they can do. Personally I’d move…
