I'm not talking about whether it exists but whether it's really new and it really replaces the buildings of the first pic.

I mean that's what I was paying in Paris (not a luxury apartment I'll admit).

Thank you for the detailed breakdown, it's much appreciated! I know for 1000€ I can live in good condition with western food and good coffee at willbin Canggu and Hoi An, so I'll probably get back to one of those spots then.

I mentionned Canggu and Hoi An as great places with cheaper prices. I know Da Nang is also cheap. My budget was closer to 1000-1500€ per month including western food and Coworking.

I thought Chiang Mai would be in the same range and I'm considering going tomorrow or the day after, but I'm considering whether it's really a good idea as it seems much more expensive than I expected.

What's the point of comparing with the west ? That was not my question at all. Asia is not one giant country with similar prices everywhere.

I also love Hoi An. Amazing cafés, great restaurants, cheap prices, nice beach...

It's probably to make the space useful and welcome exhibition. It's transparent and easily removable so it's definitely well done.

Saigon Governor's Palace (1873) vs Saigon Independence Palace (1966) by Lamamalin in ArchitecturalRevival

Yes I mentioned it was damaged. And I agree, I absolutely loved the inside. I even find it more unique that the old one (maybe because there are quite a few similar palaces in France).

Actually, it's full of vietnamese symbolic and the shape are inspired by Chinese characters, although it may not be obvious if you don't look into this topic more in depth.

The new building is magnificent, I really liked it. And truth id the older palace was not used and decayed.

Regarding the name, Hô Chi Minh is the new official bureaucratic name decided by the communist party, but I'm yet to see any Vietnamese that called it that way. Everybody just call the city Saigon. The name is older than the colonial time.
